So if you were to write something on your schoolroom walls...what would it be?

Recommended Posts

I need lots of ideas! I want to paint a quote on one of the walls in our schoolroom. So I need suggestions..it can be anything really..scripture, a quote from a book, saying, a thought, something with lots of humor. To give you an idea about my family..we are military, dh is currently deployed (home soon though, yeah!) we have six kids ages 10 mos to 10yrs. We are very noisy, loving, rough and tumble family. Not sure if that helps but bring on the suggestions please! Thank you in advance.

Always:

Use complete sentences; begin each with a capital letter; use appropriate punctuation; do your math neatly; listen to your parents; say goodnight to each other; be kind.

:tongue_smilie:

(This is intended to be kind of tongue in cheek--I don't know that I would actually put these on our walls, but I am not a "writing on the wall" kinda gal either. :))

I would be really tempted to write one of the sayings suggested. I especially like the Charlot Mason "I can" one. But in the end, I would simply write, "Live, Laugh, Love." In fact, I wouldn't write it, I would just buy a pretty picture with that on it! It's all over the place and it's really simplistic, but it just defines our family so well. If we EVER have a homeschool day that is going south, we stop everything and just cuddle on my bed for awhile, we hug and kiss, tell jokes and tickle. If she thinks of it she'll say, "I need some Mommy." And If I think of it, I'll say, "I need some ClaireAnna." Ten minutes later, we resume our school and everything is fine. Works every time. My DD8 and I have determined that the one thing we will always remember from homeschool and NEVER forget is, "We laughed." I plan to have those words made into a plaque of some kind as a gift for her when she graduates.

I have a small framed piece that says "Bloom where you are planted" hanging in our classroom among other things. I tend to be very visual and have an eclectic grouping of pictures and each one means something to me.

If I were going to paint something it would be a tree and then we would pin different paper leaves on the tree. Each leaf would be a character trait. (That was my grand plan for this year :001_huh:)

A phrase would either be "multum non multa" (we're LCC fans) or "Accomplishate" which is a word I made up. The meaning of it is on the link in my signature.

“Diligence overcomes difficulties, sloth makes them.â€, Ben Franklin

I really like this one - so, so true, but then, I expect nothing less from Ben Franklin.:)

That is so sweet.:)

I'd write "Never trouble another for what you can do for yourself," Thomas Jefferson.

Way too convicting, I'm afraid.:D

Add this note beneath it:

Only Mommy and Daddy are allowed to write on the walls. If you wish to write on the walls, you will have to give a written request (use complete sentences) to Mommy or Daddy two weeks before any writing is attempted.

Just kidding.

I like, "we are such stuff as dreams are made of."

That's funny! When my oldest son first learned to write, I found his name on the wall, in mirror image. I asked him what he knew about that, and he said, "My brother did that." Right. His 1 year old brother. Uh huh.
