AmandaVT
Like a previous poster, I can't decide if my thinking is overly cautious. DS has a Dr's appointment on Wednesday. He's healthy - the appointment is a medicine check in with his pedi. He has them every 3 or so months. But, I feel like I'm bringing a healthy kid to visit a petri dish. The office doesn't have separate sick and well waiting rooms and there's a ton of illness going around right now. I am thinking of calling in the morning and rescheduling for a few weeks out, hoping that the germs have subsided a bit by then. Paranoid or just thinking ahead? NorthwestMom
Call and ask. :)
Seasider
They may be actually glad to have some appointment timebmade available for a more urgent case. If it's not something you really need to do, I'd reschedule.
aaplank
I would postpone the appointment until flu season is over.
HSmomof2
I would reschedule if he doesn’t really need to go right now
Word Nerd
I would reschedule unless it’s absolutely necessary to do it now.
Tanaqui
Given how awful the flu has been this year, I'd reschedule - especially if your kid wasn't or couldn't be vaccinated.
Ausmumof3
I would reschedule. Too many times we go in for one thing and come home with something else.
ErinE
My pediatricians’ office made the decision to reschedule well-child visits until March. I got the call just yesterday. They’ve had several cases of healthy children visiting on a Friday only to return Monday extremely ill. It also helped free up their schedule for sick visits. Call and ask. Soror
Not paranoid, I'd avoid the ped's office like the plague right now, even on a "good" year I'd avoid it doing the cold and flu season but especially so this year.
ThisIsTheDay
I'd wait. Why not? :) It seems like common sense rather than overly cautious to me.
catz
This I would definitely reschedule if you could. My kids always picked up stuff at the peds office when they were younger. Yuck!
Okra
I'm not an anxious person and I would reschedule.
historically accurate
I'd reschedule, too. In fact, all of mine are due for their checkups now, but I'm scheduling them in March/April.
SparklyUnicorn
I'm wondering something similar. Both kids had physical appts that I had to reschedule due to a snow storm. They are now at the end of the month, but I keep wondering if I should bring healthy kids into a germ zone.
regentrude
Unless it is absolutely vital that he be checked precisely on schedule, I would reschedule for after flu season.
Ravin
Will the doctor extend his scripts without the visit as long as the appointment has been rescheduled?
Catwoman
Another vote to reschedule. :)
Homebody2
I'd reschedule. I'm waiting on my dental visit and my eye exam. I know I'm being a bit paranoid, but we've been sick more than normal this fall/winter, and I just don't want anymore illness in our house.

Pronghorn
If you must go, arrange to wait outside instead of in the waiting room.

NoseInABook
I just rescheduled this morning. We were due to go tomorrow and I just couldn't bring myself to risk getting all of the kids sick right before our adoption day... so I scheduled for after it happens. Haha.
Georgiana Daniels
Reschedule! I really don't understand why doctor's offices don't have separate areas for well/sick visits. Ours doesn't either and it bugs me.
gingersmom
I survived two doctors offices and the emergency room with no one getting sick. All were fairly empty and no one even looked/acted sick. I wouldn't reschedule.
Ailaena
Reschedule! I really don't understand why doctor's offices don't have separate areas for well/sick visits. Ours doesn't either and it bugs me. Our ped says it’s because people don’t pay attention (or don’t care) and everybody gets mixed together anyways :/
JennyD
My middle son was supposed to have a well-check this past week and I rescheduled for mid-March. We're out and about to all sorts of places, but it just seemed insane to take a perfectly healthy kid to the one place that is guaranteed to have a crowd of sick kids. Georgiana Daniels
Our ped says it’s because people don’t pay attention (or don’t care) and everybody gets mixed together anyways :/ That just stinks--ruined for everyone. But I guess that's as good a reason as any.
