My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Now, you are family. Okay. All my life, I had a lump at the back of my neck, right here. Always, a lump. Then I started menopause and the lump got bigger from the "hormonees." It started to grow. So I go to the doctor, and he did the bio... the b... the... the bios... the... b... the "bobopsy." Inside the lump he found teeth and a spinal cord. Yes. Inside the lump was my twin.

Don't forget Genevieve (1954) and the original The Lady Killers. I love love love A New Leaf. Those all bear rewatching. For a one time, Airplane was so funny my "date" moved away from me, and I also laughed immodestly at Oh Brother Where Art Thou, from the moment the credits ran and I saw it was based on the Odyssey.

A short Ren and Stimpy, about one of them being terribly sick and the other doing ICU work on them was my all time side splitter. My ex and I, still in the throws of residency and ICU work, screamed so loudly we were boo'd in the Angelica, in NYC, I think.

Ah well, and then there were the days of Animal House...seen in "Aggieville" in my home town the opening week of classes. The audience was rowdier than the film, and I recall a food fight and general streaking going on. And almost everyone in togas.

I'm not looking at anyone else's list so that I will not be influenced.

Here are some of my favorites:

Arsenic and Old Lace

Murder He Says (most people have never seen this and yet a few scenes from other movies are *totally* stolen from this movie)

The Court Jester

Duck Soup

Some Like it Hot

It Happened One Night

His Girl Friday

Bringing Up Baby

The Desk Set

Harvey

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

any of the "road" movies with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby

newer movies:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Ruthless People

A Fish Called Wanda

Snatch

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Shaun of the Dead

hands down for us would be Tommy Boy.

:iagree:

One of our favorites!

I also have to laugh at....

Night at the Roxbury

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Shanghai Noon

Meet the Parents

Bringing Down the House

Vacation (Christmas & Vegas are my favs)

Father of the Bride (I & II)

Rush Hour

...and we happen to think that Cap'n Jack Sparrow is quite witty, as well.

And BTW - I just heard on a commercial that laughter adds 8 years onto your life, so laugh away!

Election

Rat Race

Something About Mary

of course my all time fave is The Big Lebowski, and it has been listed - I just had to mention it again.

I loved Rat Race. I also thought Without a Paddle was pretty funny.

Okay, here's my list but I'm probably repeating everybody:

The Out of Towners (I howled through this one until my sides ached! Love Jack Lemmon!)

The Odd Couple (another Jack Lemmon movie!)

Princess Bride (most quotable ever!)

Spinal Tap (another really quotable movie!)

Parenthood

Galaxy Quest

What's Up Doc

Life with Father

Tootsie

Life of Brian (You are all individuals! I'm not!)

1995 BBC/A&E Pride and Prejudice (Mr. Collins, Mrs. Bennet, Mr. Bennet, Lady Catherine de Bourgh!)

I also loved Raising Arizona!

and one more movie that was a real sleeper but I loved it, Everlasting Piece. It's got lots of bad language in it though.

Dodgeball... saw this in the theatre and laughed all the way through.

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball."

Valk

I agree...Dodgeball was hilarious.

I also agree with Kissy...Along Came Polly..."I sharted," had me laughing so hard I could hardly gasp for air.

I don't know if it was the mood I was in when I watched it, but Elf really had me laughing, too.

50 First Dates had me laughing AND crying.

My dh especially loved Guess Who with Bernie Mac.

One of my mom's favourite ones is Hitch with Will Smith.

And scenes of The Break Up had me laughing, though it's not on the top of my list of funny movies.

Finally, if you can stand language, the Ali G show, seasons one and two is just plain old HILARIOUS.

Groundhog Day

RV

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Airplane

Galaxy Quest

We have similar tastes in funny movies. :001_smile:

I would also have picked Groundhog Day, Airplane, and Galaxy Quest.

I also thought For Richer or Poorer was hilarious, too. (Kirstie Allie and Tim Allen)

History of the World Part 1

Paraphrasing here:

Jesus: "By the end of the evening, one of you will betray me."

Mel Brooks (waiting on the table): "JUDAS!"

Judas: *looks shocked*

Mel Brooks: "Would you like a cold beverage?"

I hope I got the movie right. :001_smile: It's been a while....

That whole scene with Comicus and Jesus cracks me up. So, so wrong, but fall down funny. Here's a link. Please don't watch if you're easily offended.
