I figured I'd better ask here since homeschoolers might have a higher average age for this. ;)

Mine all still squish me, and the oldest is a 12 yo girl.

My kids all climb on my lap at some point...my 13 year old is the most likely one to do it! :D

My 18 year old will still occasionally try to sit on my lap and she was never homeschooled. She's also 2 inches taller than I am, although 40 pounds lighter. It's not very comfortable. :lol:

My 10 year old girl gets in my lap. My 15 year old boy who is bigger than I am does not. I think he probably stopped around age 10 mainly because I would have been in pain if he hadn't stopped.

DS stopped at maybe 5 or 6 unless he was hurt or upset. He was probably 8 when he stopped completely. He's taller than I am now, so that would be a little awkward. DD still sits on her dad's lap, but not mine.

Every morning ds gets up and sits on my lap and gives me a hug good morning. It also annoys the dog and she tries to butt in, which is good motivation for him to keep doing it. I don't mind.

My oldest quit around 7/8, but my youngest will still sit on my lap at 10 yrs. old.

My 10yo doesn't try anymore, but she always wants to sit by me and snuggle. The others want to sit by me and snuggle too. The ones who consistently crawl in my lap are 4yo on down. The others are busy playing or doing whatever else. :001_smile:

My 4 yo does, my 7 and 9 yo generally don't. I am late-term pregnant, so that may skew the results here :D Even if they don't climb into my lap, all three will generally cuddle right up next to me on the sofa though.

Never? Seriously, even my 19yo will still sit on me.

 

My 14yo sits on me pretty much every day. My 17yo is very rare now, maybe a few times each year. My 19yo is still a few times each year too.

My oldest quit around 12ish when he got bigger than me. The other three still do, although Dd not as much as the boys. My friend's soon to be 18yo sons still sits on her, but he is very slander and lanky and she is tall! I still sat on my Dad til about 12-13, but not Mom because I was bigger than her. I wasn't homeschooled.

My 8 yos both still like to cuddle in my lap and curl up like babies, especially when they're feeling sad or vulnerable.

Dd 16 or 17, ds is just too big but he's a big hugger at 16. Love those cozy kids.

My dd quit when she was around 9,for normal, everyday lap sitting.

 

However, the morning of her recent 14th birthday, she came downstairs and asked if she could sit in my lap. I welcomed her even though she is about an inch taller than I am now. I think she just needed a bit of reassurance and connection on that auspicious occasion.

 

She also still loves to hug and kiss and will frequently throughout the day stop me for a hug or present her cheek for a kiss. She is less physical with dh in a cuddly way, but they tend to do the wrestling, bouncing around kind of touch.

 

Important to note though, all this is in the privacy of our home. I'm pretty sure she would be mortified to hug, kiss, or sit in our laps in front of her peers.:rolleyes:

Well, Calvin still likes to sit on my lap. He's almost sixteen and 5'10". We had a lovely cuddle last night just before bed. I only worry about whether the chair can take our joint weight.

My 12yo still does occasionally, but she mostly likes to snuggle next to dh or me on the couch. 8yo sits on my lap all the time.

 

We were at a barbeque this weekend at a family who are rather macho – into hunting and fast cars, etc. I was surprised, but rather touched when the burly 22yo son went to sit on his father’s lap. And the dad was gently rubbing his arm while he sat. ETA: Oh, he was holding his girlfriend's hand while sitting on dad's lap. We were a bit short of seating.

dd is always wanting to be picked up, snuggle, sit on my lap or lay on me. DS doens't because he is nearly my size, but he is a big time cuddler.

Both my 15yo's will sit on my lap. My sister's kids still sit on her lap, and they are 29, 27, and 22!

Last year I was up in the middle of the night while visiting my mom and she was awake too. I crawled under the covers of her twin bed that she was sleeping in since Dh and I were sleeping in her bed. We sat up and talked for more than an hour. Not exactly sitting in her lap...but still. I am only 37.

This is exactly what I want for my kids. My dd always sleeps with me when my dh is out of town, and I hope her comfort level continues and that she, too, will crawl in bed with me when she's in her 30s. Or beyond.

My dd is only 2 and I want the same thing for her. She loves crawling in bed between me and daddy for some extra cuddle time every night right now.

my 6yo boy wants to cuddle with me at night, during the day not so much, but he will submit to a hug and a kiss. He's pretty big for his age, comes up to my shoulder, so we don't fit in the chair so well anymore, he mushes me.

 

 

I miss the days I can just swoop him up in my arms.

My ten year old still sits on my lap. My 11 year old has gotten quite tall and sits next to me on the couch to cuddle, especially when she's having a rough day.
