delaney
Here is the deal. I am 43 and DH had a vasectomy 4 years ago. My period is late and I have never been late. He never went back for a check either:glare:. I took a test and there is a very faint line. I don't know what an evap line looks like so I can't tell if that is what it could be. I mean seriously? Could his pipes have found a way to reconnect????
brett_ashley
can you post a pic of the test? after how many minutes did you get the faint line? how late are you?
MeaganS
I'd lean towards agreeing with the others and saying that you are pregnant!
melissel
I've heard stories like that, so yes, I think it's possible. My mom had an ectopic pregnancy 10 years after having her tubes tied :001_huh: I hope the results are what will make you happy :grouphug: Sometimes you can't fight fate, I guess! Bluegoat
What about other kinds of hormonal changes? Or even something like a false pregnancy? It is possible I seem to recall though on occasion for vasectomies to spontaneously reverse.
Jennifer in MI
One of my friends has a 7 yo who was conceived after a vasectomy. Her dh never went in for the check either. I do also wonder about how long it took for the line to show up? Please re-test and post back immediatelly!!!!!
littlebug42
Yep, it is possible. I also have a friend with a child conceived post vasectomy where her dh never went for the final confirmation. I would retest. For all of my pregnancies, I only ever had faint lines on those home pregnancy tests. I would retest.

It happens. However, what also happens is by 43 your cycles get wacked and all kinds of weird things happen.
k2bdeutmeyer
As long as the line had color and showed up during the valid time frame.....absolutely, yes! Post a pic of the test!! usetoschool
Don't know about the line but if you are 43 it wouldn't be unusual for you to be going into menopause and beginning to skip periods. Hope it works out the way you want.

butterflymommy
I have had evap lines both inside and outside the time window that were both true positives and false positives. Sorry, I know that isn't much help! You need to retest in a few days (if you can wait that long). And yes, you can get pregnant even after hubby is snipped. VERY rare though. besroma
From what I understand, if you read it within the correct timeframe, even a faint line is positive. If you are, congratulations!
5LittleMonkeys
Oh my goodness. Dh never went back for his check. If you'd seen the length of tube they cut out you'd assume there was no way those two pieces would ever find their way back together. ...you all are making me nervous now. OP, take another test...and another and then go to the doc and let them test. I hope that you are happy with whatever the results end up being.:grouphug:
indigomama
Was it a blue dye test? Those are notorious for false positives. And my SIL is 12! FIL didn't get his v rechecked.
butterflymommy
Yes, my only false positive was from a blue dye test. Faint line within the time frame!
scrappyhappymama
I'd get a digital test. It says either pregnant or not pregnant. No guessing about lines. Or you could wait a few more days and retest. But I am never that patient. :tongue_smilie:

Could his pipes have found a way to reconnect???? yes, they can reconnect. test again in a few days if your cycle hasn't started. perimenopause can also make you skip cycles. eta: tests vary in sensitivity. also, first morning sample has more HCg (if you're pregnant) than later in the day. Annie
Yes, my only false positive was from a blue dye test. Faint line within the time frame! Yes! Blue dye tests are are terrible! Was it pink or blue dye?
fhjmom
Meet my youngest. DH didn't go back for his check either. I am honestly so glad he didn't because I can not imagine our family complete without her, but it was definitely a shock at the time. Edited: Sorry that pic is huge! KidsHappen
How long after taking the test did you see the line? Was it a straight line? Was there a second line (check line)? I would take a second test, different brand and first thing in the morning. You could either be pregnant or starting to go through menopause in either case you should let us know right away. Guest
Fhjmom, what a precious little girl. I am glad your dh's vasectomy didn't work! As far as the faint line, yes you can have a faint and accurate positive pregnancy test.

I thought posting a picture might make it a little easier if you think what the outcome could possibly be.
StephanieZ
OMG, fjjmom, your OOPSIE sure is adorable! How wonderful. :) I am very jealous of the post-V baby stories. I guess that means I can still hold out a little hope for one more, even post-V & even post-recheck (the man was not taking any chances, lol)? I still have some good eggs left . . . chepyl
With this pregnancy I only got very faint almost not there lines....I thought I was imagining it because I wanted it so badly. MamaT
I agree with everyone else - get a digital test and take it first thing in the morning. Then be sure to get on here immediately and post results! I have a good friend with a post-v baby. fhjmom, your daughter is beautiful! delaney
Ok I bought a digital last night and it said NOT. I guess I will just have to wait until my period finally shows up. Maybe this is the beginning of menopause? Who knows. All I know is that I was not looking forward to trying to find a vehicle that could house 9 of us:tongue_smilie:. I am always happy to be pregnant so I was fine with either answer.
melissad2
Digitals are not as sensitive as regular pregnancy tests. I've never had bad luck with First Response and it's a pink dye test which rarely give false positives :)
MedicMom
I have a lovely, smart, funny 13-year-old post V sister. My mom was in her early 40s. Also...the digital tests consistently told me I was NOT pregnant. Even after I started showing.

I had a regular 29 day cycle for years. Sometime last year, my cycle changed. For several months it vacillated between 28 and 35, but now it's from 32 to 35 days. I'm 44 years old. FWIW, I had lots of those moments last year when I didn't realize my cycle was slowly changing. Only I didn't buy the tests because I was too scared to see a negative. My DH's vasectomy was over 10 years ago and I spent nearly all that time wishing it would fail. After my cycle went wacky, I finally gave it up. I am THIS close to being done with diapers after a 16 1/2 year run. Doesn't hurt my feelings that my period doesn't want to visit for longer spans. :D
