Vida Winter
I love old black and white movies - Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelley, Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, Fred Astaire, I could go on and on...I hate to admit it but I even love to see them smoke. I want to have a family movie night once a week where we watch a good oldie - so what are your favorites? (I'm absolutely disgusted with most newer movies). elegantlion
I haven't watched a good black and white movie in a long time. We just got netflix, so I might add a few to our queue. I like the old Shirley Temple movies and Abbott and Costello.
TN Mama
An Affair to Remember is one of my all-time favorites. I also enjoy several of the Audrey Hephbern classics (Roman Holiday, My Fair Lady, etc.).
Night Elf
Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) with Cary Grant is probably at the very top of my list. Topper (1937) with Cary Grant and Costance Bennett is also a great one. (Can you tell I love Cary Grant??) The Long, Long Trailer (1953) and Forever, Darling (1956) with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Musicals are fun. I got Guys and Dolls for Christmas and my kids actually watched it with me and enjoyed it!
Karenciavo
Rebecca, most of Hitchcock. I also love Bette Davis. The first one of her movies I ever saw was A Stolen Life. I sought it out because I loved the Carol Burnett skit, do you remember those movie skits she did? That show was funny.
crewmom
The Major and The Minor with Ginger Rogers and Ray Milland Sergeant York with Gary Cooper Mr. Smith Goes to Washington with James Stewart And while not in black and white, my all time favorite oldie is The King and I. stripe
Shadow of a Doubt, by Hitchcock. I love the fact that the young heroine wears a suit everywhere she goes and is smart and clever. The Best Years of Our Lives, by Wyler. An excellent look at the realities of what it's like for a soldier to return home after serving in combat, by looking at three such men, in different stages of their lives. You get a feel for them and their family. It's a long one (3 or 3 1/2 hrs long). Desk Set and His Girl Friday are fun.
MomOfOneFunOne
My all-time-favorite is The Three Godfathers with John Wayne. It's just a wonderful movie. My husband's favorite is High Noon with Gary Cooper.

We all love Holiday Inn and other Bing Crosby movies here: Going My Way, Bells of St. Mary's, White Christmas. We just watched Arsenic and Old Lace and the dc were rolling! I love Doris Day. Casablanca is of course wonderful. The Philadelphia Story must have the sharpest dialogue ever written! Jenny in Florida
Some Like It Hot is a favorite of my whole family. We watch the original Miracle on 34th Street every holiday season. My son has recently been going through a Hitchcock phase. These aren't black and white, but he's particularly enjoyed Rear Window, North by Northwest and The Man Who Knew Too Much. I currently have Philadelphia Story on my Netflix queue, because I haven't seen it in a long time. And, again not black and white, but my son loves the Errol Flynn version of Robin Hood. In general, we all like musicals: On the Town, Singing in the Rain, Anchors Aweigh (pretty much anything with Gene Kelly, as far as my son is concerned). One of my all-time favorites is Holiday, starring Hepburn and Grant. I was thrilled to discover someone put the whole thing on YouTube, and I watched it on New Year's Eve.
