Desert Rat
Wouldn't have bothered me either. Many libraries in Las Vegas has small to medium art galleries inside though.
Peek a Boo
Now if the nude you described was climbing on the nude with the day-glo p*n*s Peek described rather then a bicycle, then I might have a word with the librarian. :D ROTFLOL!
Peek a Boo
I would really prefer a statue of a figure nude or not compared to what is in front of our museum of art. http://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/images/1007/1_Nelson-Atkins_shuttlecock2.jpg no kidding! :001_huh:
dangermom
Naked bicycle riding....owie. No, it wouldn't bother me, but it would make me cringe a little inside whenever I walked by.
hornblower
Naked bicycle riding....owie. No, it wouldn't bother me, but it would make me cringe a little inside whenever I walked by. LOL, a couple months ago we had real live people riding nude through the streets of Vancouver. It was a pro-bike event....... I know I was thinking ouch, ouch, ouch. I'd need a lot of this. kdeno
I don't think my kids would either. I do believe the human body is beautiful and designed by God but not something that we needs to show to everyone. Kari

Jean in Newcastle
Well, see the fact that the figure is riding a bicycle makes me think that it isn't all that detailed. That if you used your imagination it could just as well be wearing a "cat-suit" that is form-fitting as being actually nude. As to what I would have said when we came across it and my dd said "look at that tushie", I would have simply said, "How embarrassing!" And would have gone on without thinking anymore about it. I don't think you want to know the answer to that.... But I'll tell you anyway. There's an international organization that promotes naked bike ride events. No joke. So, in point of fact, thousands of people ride bikes naked. :leaving:

GraceinMD
a skinny naked woman getting on a bike. It wouldn't bother me, but it does make me think that Seinfeld was onto something: "There's good naked, and there's bad naked." This doesn't sound like good naked to me. EmilyK
I just had the best laugh I've had in days over the picture Peek linked. I was laughing so hard my husband and son had to come over and see what I was laughing at. It took me several pages to make the connection in my mind (amazing what doesn't occur to me at times), but I often take my kids to my office, and it occurred to me to ask what they think of the sculpture in front of my building, usually called Three Groins in a Fountain or Family Night at the Y. (They said it didn't bother them, and would only bother immature kids. (?)) I've always found it pretty ugly, but it is a good way to explain how to find the office. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Insurance_Center http://cyclotram.blogspot.com/2008/11/quest.html

KidsHappen
I would really prefer a statue of a figure nude or not compared to what is in front of our museum of art. http://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/images/1007/1_Nelson-Atkins_shuttlecock2.jpg Oh come on! That is just funny. Reminds me of the giant, concrete, coconut tree halfway between SLC and Elko, NV. Miles and miles of nothing but desert and then off in the distance you see this giant thing and you are like, "What is that? What is that thing?" When you finally get close enough to see it, you bust out laughing because it is so absurd. I always wondered who in the world would spend that kind of money to put a giant, concrete, coconut tree in the middle of nowhere in the desert and then I realized that it must be someone who had to drive that route a lot. My brother is an OTR driver and he always get a kick out of it when he has to go that way. By the way, to the OP, no it wouldn't bother me at all. The public library is often a venue for displaying art.

KidsHappen
You know, I was thinking about this and while the statue wouldn't bother me, the though of riding a bike nude does make me a bit uncomfortable. Also my hubby mentioned the infamous circle of naked people (maybe 10, men and women) in downtown Nashville. It caused quite the rukus when it was unveiled. It is in a part of town that visitors don't often see though.
