Actually I do feel that way on occasion, but I have been on these boards for so many years (and the board before it) that it seems to happen to everyone at one time or another. After reading multiple postings regarding AP World History and given the depth/scope I am considering dividing World History into a 9th and 10th grade class. Thus covering the material in two years versus one. In my local school district the sequence is 9th - world geography 10th - world history 11th- US history 12th - gov't/economics The plan is to use World History Our Human Story (k12 book) by Pearson and Holden. There is so much material I thought that I could divide the book in half and cover the ancients in 9th along with adding in supplementation on world geography. For 10th finish and study for the AP World History exam. Has anyone else use this book? (it looks amazing) I would really like to go deep on World History and I think two years would give her a deeper understanding. I am not sure how I would show this on her transcript, except counting the 9th grade as World Geography and 10th as World History? Can anyone suggest a good World Geography course I can include? Would this scenario be reasonable? TIA

Both my girls did Fritz and Chester and loved it! Both knew some chess, but they still liked doing the whole game. I would start with 1, and buy 2 & 3 if you can. My youngest pulled it out the other day after not doing it for a couple of years and worked her way back through all 3 CD's. I noticed later my other daughter joined in and was doing it too. Great game and I guess you could start with 2, but would really suggest starting with 1.

I absolutely love my Hyundai Veracruz....love it, love it, love it. They are somewhat difficult to locate, took me months before I found one, but was worth the wait. I would probably call. Three weeks ago dd#1 had sore throat, took her through a Minute Clinic (nurse practictioner at pharmacy) and had a rapid strep done, test was negative. Nurse said her throat looked nasty so sent sample off for culture. Culture came back negative 3 days later. On day 5 she was crying in pain, went to Dr. and she was positive for strep (one day later than results from negative culture). Now younger daughter has strep too. I know strep is running rampant right now so maybe your daughter does have it. I wish I knew what to tell you, but sometimes early on the strep just seems to miss showing a positive and wait a few days and it is positive. Hope they feel better soon!

My 2 went off to public school for part of this past school year and did absolutely wonderful! My oldest was the one who I was most worried about as she had been homeschooled for most of her life and was going to join school for middle school. Her father and I made an appt with the school counselor who looked blankly at us as we explained how smart she was. When we provided her with her Standardized Test scores we did every year and examples of her school work, she put her in the G/T classes. She did very well, but the school was not challenging enough so we did after school her on weekends. The youngest spent her first 3 years in one public school and it was a disaster. I pulled her out, spent 8 months homeschooling her intensely and put her in a different public school when her older sister returned to school. She thrived and did very well. This year both girls will be attending a charter school that runs on a prep school model. We will see how it goes. So my two girls, who have such different personalities, one is a bookworm, the other a social butterfly and they both smoothly went from homeschooling to public school. The one who took it the hardest was their father, he really was the one who misses the homeschooling the most.:001_smile: Children are flexible, so returning to school is usually harder for the parent. Although my kids schools were far from perfect, we made the best of it and they had a great year.

But the lined cans do contain BPA's. According to the Dec Consumer Report testing on BPA's, even canned goods that were organic and sold as BPA free cans still registered risky levels of BPA's. Also, #7 plastics contain BPA's. The safest of the plastics, especially for children, are #1, 2, and #4. Spycar, I do think those are the ones that the article was referring to, but I'm not positive. It was either in Consumer Reports, Mother Earth News, or Organic Gardening magazine...LOL I will see if I can find it.

Freezing is probably the best idea unless you are very careful with your canning. If you are canning to avoid BPA, well your canning lids (the white stuff on inside) is laden with BPA's. I did not realize this until a month ago when one of my organic magazines covered this. I believe only Ikea with glass lids were the only bpa free ones. If you are canning to avoid BPA;s, but then you do the canning yourself and your canning lid has bpa, you are going through alot of work to not be bpa free. You can do a google of it. dd#2 just turned 10. She is adopted and I do not know family medical history. She has a seizure disorder and is off the charts for hyperactivity and focus. She had 2 strokes before 6 months of age. Medications are Trileptal, Focalin (15mg) Zyrtec and Nasonex and 6 mg of Melatonin a night to sleep. This past Monday she said her throat was hurting her, I took a flashlight and looked. She said it was sore to swallow. It was not red at all, so I thought maybe allergies or she slept with her mouth open. Tuesday she was very tired and around 9:00 pm her neck started to look a tiny bit larger. Wednesday morning the area around the bottom area of neck was about 1 inch bigger than top part of neck. I took her to pediatrician (our regular is on vacation, this was fill in dr), she said goiter, ran bloodwork. Bloodwork came back yesterday, thyroid is in normal range, but they are sending her to an Endocrinologist at Children's hospital. This dr. said she had phone conversation with the Endocrinologist and he wants to see dd. She is having an ultrasound this coming Wed. Dr. said it is thyroiditis and endocrinologist will explore causes, etc. I am concerned about so many things. Thyroid runs in my family, and I am all to aware of how your thyroid can make you act/react abnormally when it is not adjusted correctly. I am wondering if her non stop, never stopping talking could aggravated by her thyroid. Even her thyroid levels are normal, obviously something is wrong or her thyroid gland would not be swollen. Has anyone dealt with this? Advice? thanks!

I use KAL progesterone cream and get my levels checked every few years. I got slack with it and went on a bio-identical progesterone pill that is made up at the compounding pharmacy. However, I use the KAL cream for about 1/2 the month now. I think it is pretty good compared to other brands that I tried over the past 6 or 7 years.

I have no advice but I just wanted to say I will hold a thought you arrive safely and wide awake and your daughter will not fall asleep! I hope it goes well. 2 years nearly seizure free is great. I totally understand about not being ready to get off the meds. My duaghter made it 23 months one time before she had another seizure ... We are now nearing 18 months this time. I am not sure when or if we will ever wean off meds.

I have only had success with the method Melissel recommended. The Griswald collector/fanatics recommend this method. I love to cook in iron. We have 4 or 5, some are 40 years old, and our youngest skillet is now about 20 years old. Stacie's advice was spot on for cooking eggs, etc and cleaning. Give it some time to get used to it, it is really a great way to cook!

Hi there, Well you know the saga already about my family and how sick my oldest and dh got. Both my girls got a H1n1 shot a month ago. My dh got one 3 weeks ago and I went ahead and got one a week ago when they opened it up to everyone. I am normally conserative with vaccines but just watching dh go from fine to awful in hours was a sign to me I needed to do something. Every family has their reasons not to vaccinate or to vaccinate, but we chose to simply because of dh compromised immune system and dds asthma/lung problem. So far we have had nothing since Oct!
