Tap Posted February 23, 2014 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Today dh needed to drive to pick up our daughter who was out of town. He was picking up/borrowing a boat from his dad on the same trip. He was tired so he asked a friend to tag along for company/alternate driver if needed. The friend had a cousin visiting, but they were just hanging out visiting. Cousin said no problem for friend to help out my dh, cousin would just take a nap while they were gone. Due to unforeseen circumstances with the boat (long and unimportant part of story), a 3 hour trip turned into half a day. Friend said no problem at the delay, it was fun to spend the day tinkering around (he is a car/fix it type person). Friend came home to find cousin had committed suicide in friend's home, with friend's (legal) gun. :0( Dh just got home, secured boat, is running on less than 4 hours of broken sleep (we caught a red eye flight home from vacation) got the text from friend about what happened at 9pm, and just headed out the door to help out friend. Police are already there. I am guessing that friend will be staying here for a few days while things get sorted out. :0( Please pray for cousin, cousin's friends and family (and a little for dh being safe on very little sleep). It is going to be a very long night, a hard week, and lifetime of missing a dear person. :0( Dh just called to update that the police are questioning friend and dh about the timeline. Dh still doesn't know any more details. It will be a very, very long night indeed. (Due to getting gas and dinner on the road, they have receipts to help show the timeline). Tap Posted February 27, 2014 Author Share Posted February 27, 2014 Thank for the support everyone. The investigation was settled and things are moving forward. The home has been cleaned. The funeral is scheduled. The friend is keeping busy with projects and seems to making small steps to healing.
