What is your Superbowl menu?

King Cake shipped directly from N'Awlins.  Randazzo's preferably.  Every year in February I am sad sad sad to be living in a state that does not celebrate Mardi Gras.

I grew up in southern Louisiana, so I smiled a big smile this morning when I read "King Cake".  Great memories!

Back to the menu ... my daughter requested a 7-layer dip.  My son requested grilled hot dogs AND hamburgers (doubt that will happen )..

We are having a Tex-Mex theme party. I am ordering tamales, then making Spanish rice, guacamole, cheese dip, Pioneer Woman Grilled Corn Dip and Eight Layer Dip. I may also make Chicken Faijitas with grilled vegetables. Friends are bringing more goodies.

Go Broncos!!! :)

SuperBowl Sunday will find me over at a friends house preparing her Schedule C and 1040 and eating potato pancakes. Potato pancakes and taxes. Woohoo.

That actually sounds like a lot more fun than watching the SuperBowl.  But I actually like doing taxes.  Playing with numbers is fun.  Football on the other hand is one of the most boring things ever.  I don't even know (or care) who is playing this year.  I'm glad my family is just as disinterested in sports as I am.  I grew up in a family that loved sports and it was miserable because you couldn't even walk through a room without getting yelled at for walking past the TV.  No TV means no one cares where or when we walk through a room.

My mom and dad are hosting, as they usually do. They are doing homemade chile verde, and lots of snacks. I am bringing a fancied up crown jewel cake and cupcakes in the appropriate color scheme (blue and green, of course!).

I am not really a football fan, but being in the Seattle area, it's fun that the local team made it!

possibly meatballs (if I can find the time)

kewb - I love to make meatballs from scratch, but last month I was in a hurry, so I bought meatballs from the freezer section in my grocery store.  My husband and children raved about how good the meatballs were that night.   :cursing:  :cursing:

Making meatballs from scratch is time consuming, etc. and since my family loved the frozen ones, I might alternate making and buying them.  If you are running short on time, try buying them frozen.

We host a large yearly party. I don't even know who's playing. I'll be picking up the catering order at Bertuccis consisting of chicken parm, chicken Marsala, rigatoni abruzzi, 4 party pizzas and rolls. I'm responsible for chips, dip, salsa, guacamole and warming the kielbasa and frozen meatballs. Dessert is store bought cupcakes, cookies and bite size brownies if I can find them.

The real fun will be cleaning the house Monday.

We host the youth group from church every year. 3 rooms of teens and advisors...it's really fun and no pressure!

We have pizza (someone picks it up) and typical snacks--Texas Caviar, 8 layer dip, chips with salsa and potato chips with french onion dip, veggies and ranch, and assorted baked goods left over from the Mission Trip bakesale that takes place at church the morning of the SB. Kids all bring one thing to share. With 30 people, we have leftovers! I hope someone brings wings this year...

Old School.

wings, veggies and dip, chips and salsa, cheese and crackers, sausage, jello shots

I don't care much about the game because its not the Packers.  :glare:  But I did find a super bowl bingo game that we plan to play and that should liven things up.

Roast beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and green beans in the mid-afternoon. Chili and cream cheese dip and artichoke/spinach dip  for snack time. If the mood strikes me, I might make them baked apples, and there will be a kettle of popcorn before the whole thing is over. Though, I'll admit that NFL is not my thing...just college ball. So, we don't actually watch the game. It's all an excuse to make special food.

Ugh I forgot to pick stuff up while I was out this week.  :banghead:   I really don't want to go out today and wouldn't you know we are out of all "party" foods dh & kiddos enjoy while watching the game.

I guess I will either be heading to the store today or digging through cabinets and freezers to see what I can come up with.

We're staying home & eating homemade pizza, Buffalo wing dip & tortilla chips, mozzarella balls & marinara sauce,  and chips, veggies & dip.  I'm not a football fan but the rest of the family is.  I think I'll have my nose in a book through most of the game.

We do a "not watching the superbowl party".  I'm thinking of using my fondue pot.

I mean hey, any reason for a party...

I am also going to a anti-Super Bowl party, I am not anti, but my friends who are hosting are :).  I am making cheddar beer fondue with homemade pretzel bites, apples, celery, and broccoli for dipping, guacamole and chips, and Pioneer woman apple dumplings.

Broke down and went to the store.  We are having pretty much the same as you Sharpie and I too will be reading instead of watching the game.

....begin brag mode....

We will be dining on a boxed lunch at an offsite location, before being whisked to the stadium under NJ State Police escort so DD can perform America the Beautiful with Queen Latifah just before Renee Fleming sings the National Anthem.

....end brag mode....

That's worth turning on the TV for!

Your daughter must be so excited.

My 5 yo is so excited that the Seahawks are playing he decided to have a party. He invited his grandpa. He planned the menu all by himself. We are having:

Pizza

Nachos

Wings (because Dominos said wings were the best Super Bowl food)

Chips (pretzels, jalapeño, salt & pepper)

Cupcakes

Granola bars

And of course.....SKITTLES!

I am going to a friend's house with my daughter; dh and ds are going to a party with the Scouts.  I am bringing jalapeno popper dip!!  And deviled eggs.  I know there will be wings, pizza, and birthday cake (it's a combo Superbowl and birthday party).

This all came together only on Monday under great secrecy, so it's been a week.

Awesome!

Do you get to stay for the game?

Nope.  Rush in, wait....wait....wait, sing, rush out. Police were practicing escorting buses hither and thither during dress rehearsal Friday afternoon.  I will say, security was rather impressive, and that's only the part I could see.  DW and I have been on that field many times back when we taught marching band, so the venue is familiar, although the circumstances are, uh...different this time.

I don't know if we'll be watching because of the sexuality in some of the commercials.  (Yes, you call roll eyes if necessary).

But we might.

We always do nuked Ro-Tel and Velveeta Cheese and chips.  Easy peasy.

Usually pizza or a submarine sandwich or some sort…but I'm thinking of doing BBQ chicken sliders today because I'm pretty sure I have all of the ingredients.

And some sort of sweet like brownies or cupcakes.

We're having homemade boneless buffalo wings (I haven't bothered with these since I've been gluten and dairy free, so excited!), pizza (one paleo-ish, two take-and-bakes for the gluten eaters), veggies and fruit, chips, cheese, dips and salsa. I bought a box of cookies for the kids, and debating going out for a box of Chex to make muddy buddies.

The bingo game sounds fun!

Since we just moved into a new house, I am not mentally up for having people over yet but I still want to make something special for a family Superbowl party.  What are you making?

  :bigear:  :bigear:

At my son's request, I just made my  "famous" crab spread. It's something I only make on Superbowl Sunday and maybe one other day a year.

In addition to that, we'll just do other snacky-type foods. We'll just be staying home. I may miss the beginning of the game if I decide to go to the evening service at church tonight. We went this morning, and had to leave early because dh wasn't feeling well. If I decide to go, ds will stay here with dh. We 're voting on purchasing some land; I would most likely stay home if it weren't for that.

This year I made stew for dinner because I had stew meat sitting in the fridge and needed to do something with it.  I did make artichoke dip and bought two kinds of hummus plus a bunch of different types of crackers, and I think dh picked up some soda and some sort of summer sausage.  It's just us, and only ds 15 and I give a hoot about the game.  Dh will probably be in the garage working on his Nova. :)
