  1. Thank you for taking time to update. What a huge relief! Prayers continue for a full recovery.
  2. Me too! Getting there was a nightmare because I was still going every 10 to 15 minutes, during the drive to the appointment. I was running to the bathroom in the waiting room. I couldn't even get through the paperwork before I had to go. I said I'd never do this again.
  3. Just seeing this. Praying for your son and all of you. How terrifying.
  4. I had the Dulcolax prep and you described it very accurately! I literally got maaaybe 45 minutes of sleep the entire night because I was running to the bathroom every 10 to 15 minutes all night long. I was completely exhausted by the time it was over with. I also will not drink Gatorade anytime soon. Super sicky sweet. Thankfully I kept it down and knew to brush my teeth immediately after finishing each round of it. I'd love to know the prep you took, because I will request it.
  5. I started getting migraines during perimenopause. I never got car sickness during that time. Throwing that info out for what it's worth. I'm sorry you're struggling with nausea & migraines & lack of sleep.
  6. I only had one child who needed theirs removed. We went to an oral surgeon. I followed the care after religiously. I set my phone timer so every 20 minutes I was doing something with him. The staff instructed us to stop to get Rx pain meds in route home and then get him home and fed protein immediately. So the first meal was scrambled eggs and some oatmeal. Then it was bandage changes and ice packs on/off almost around the clock. I did allow him to sleep from about 1 am to 7 am without me doing ice pack changes but then I started up again for the first 48 hours or so following surgery. I bought special icepacks from Amazon that fit in a sling that went around child's head. The icepacks were flexible and I literally changed them on a timer. I emptied my schedule so I could be a nurse/caregiver for 48 hours post surgery. I used my immersion blender and pulverized high protein meals so they could be eaten. So many food options tend to be sugary and the instructions from the oral surgeon recommended more protein over sweets. My child only took one Rx pain killer and pain was managed with Tylenol & Advil. They bounced back fairly quickly without the dreaded dry socket.
  7. I buy my glasses solely at Costco. My Costco is an hours drive away. However, my prescription bifocal glasses are pricey and the last time I checked, I still saved over $200 at Costco even with their membership fee. I let my membership run out until I have to purchase new glasses, then I get a Costco membership, and order my glasses there. I walk around the store the day I order my glasses, and the day I pick them up. Mostly, I don't purchase anything else but it's fun to look.
  8. We are on one not listed, and so far they have covered what I submitted to them in full within a couple months. There is a deductible that we had to meet first. We used to have Liberty and moved from them prior to their restructuring and significant rate increase. It took nearly a year to be reimbursed for medical expense with them but they may have things better now. We are self employed and the reality is we either have health sharing or nothing. Thankfully we did not have pre-existing medical conditions.
  9. I'm so sorry! What a shock! Way too young.
  10. I'm thinking back to when my boys were that age. Things they enjoyed were The Dangerous Book for Boys, and the ultimate Diabolo set.
  11. I buy my wool socks off Amazon. I wear men's wool socks though and the thicker the better for me. I don't notice any tightness around the ankles but then I'm buying cheaper ones rather than name brand.
  12. We have significant die off of all our Ash trees due to the Emerald Ash-bore beetle. You can scan the woods and see the dead tree tops. I hear of another invasive species that targets Maple trees that will likely arrive eventually. Some of the local woods are made up of over 80% Ash trees so it's a significant die off.
  13. Echoing what Cat said. I'm mostly a lurker but I am so touched by the dedication you have toward your son. I so wish it was an easier road/load you were walking/carrying.
  14. Prices for parts make me gasp almost every time. That's even IF you can find the part. I am thankful for a machine shop that has made parts for us. It continues to be a challenge to find parts. You can try to stock gobs of parts but sometimes it's just not realistic. Who has funds to stock every part you might need on every piece of equipment?
  15. Thank you. We're finally getting rain. Equipment breakdowns have been rough. Exhaustion is real.
  16. We are thinking about adding a porch on to our home. I'm in search of software that would allow me to upload a picture of our home and then see what a porch would look like on it. Neither my dh or myself are visual people and we'd like to be able to actually "see" what a porch would look like, being able to make it bigger or smaller, before we just hire a builder to add one. We do have a builder who has priced one but he doesn't have software that allows us to actually see what it would look like. Thought I'd come to the Hive as you all are so resourceful. Thanks!
  17. We had to have a new bank card sent and they are dreadfully behind. I was told to expect a minimum of 6 weeks. It sounded like there's one company that issues them nationwide and they are very far behind? I hope that's not the case for you!
  18. I'm so very sorry! Praying for you. Grief is exhausting and overwhelming. Big hugs.
  19. Praying here too. How stressful for all of you!
  20. Praying for a positive outcome!
  21. I'm so sorry! It's heartbreaking!
  22. If he's too big for the tub, you can try a heat lamp. I've just found the absolute best way to get a hypothermic baby warmed up is hot water. Having a big calf in the house isn't super easy either. Depending on what killed momma, may be affecting baby too. Big hugs! We start calving season too and my heart goes out to you. I've fought tooth and nail with plenty of sleepless nights trying to save a calf.
