Poll: Do you have a world map on your wall?

Our large wall map is in the hallway. It was the only available space big enough.

Yes, in our dining room. We have cheap, utilitarian-looking clocks from Target with the different times of major cities around the world above it.

I didn't have room for two big maps to be on the wall.

I bought a US map and a world map, and my DH had them mounted on foam core--pretty inexpensive. This gave them stiffness so we could stand them on a low bookshelf against the wall and store one behind the other, bringing them out as needed. It has worked out very well.

Other - we *did* have a world map (and a few other maps) when my big kids were younger. I have thought we need to get another now that we have the littles.

We don't have a homeschool room, but we have one in the kitchen and one in the playroom. Nathan uses that one for historical representations when he studies independently, for Axis and Allies or when acting out 39 Clues.

Other: we used to have beautiful maps on the walls in our last house. We honestly do not have any wall space in our present house. The children spent lots of time looking over those maps. They also loved the Sonlight folding map. We kind of dropped maps of all kinds when we moved. How sad.

We have large World and US maps in our foyer, and a colorful set in our library, and a version in our basement kitchen (where we originally planned to homeschool) we use as a craft room now. Oh and a world map shower curtain!

Oh, we love maps. We have antique looking maps of the US, the world, and Ukraine in our family room. In our school room, we have large classroom world and US maps as well as smaller maps above one of our son's study area that he is using for his geography studies. We also have a globe that gets a lot of use.

We have a U.S. map but not a world map. We do have a globe prominently displayed, however.

We have bi-fold doors that separate our living room from my office/school room. We never open them, so I have our map hangning on the school side of the doors.

Ooh--my vote just edged "shared living space" over "school room," 155 to 154. I feel like my vote counted. Ours is in our dining room, and we also have a U.S. wall map on the opposite wall.

We have moved since I voted. We no longer have a map on the wall anywhere. I decided that our new house was going to be a home first and school second. So the maps are rolled up and on a shelf next to the school materials.

I bought one two years ago (ack!) and have yet to hang it. My kids play with the globe.

 

I had a fancy type one on my wall when I was a college student (no kids).

My oldest has a map covering one entire wall. It came with the house. We thought it was cool. This summer I mod podged a fabric map onto our old kitchen table and it's now in the school room. It has already come in very handy while reading about Columbus with my 2nd grader. Very, very handy. Easier than being on the wall because it's right there at our fingertips. No getting up off the chair, and it's bigger than the globe.

Ours is up in my dining room, which is NOT our school room. The dining room has the only wall space big enough for it.

Well we have maps up on the dining room wall now and the living room wall.

 

I went from rolled up in a container, [mind you that was 2 months after we moved across country] to 4 up on the walls.

 

Someday I will have a home first, but with so many littles I am leaving them up for now. Plus, I can use it as an excuse for not painting [i don't want to ding freshly painted walls b/c I [b]need[/b] those maps up, so I might as well wait, and not decorating. [The maps are my decoration. :tongue_smilie:]

We have a world map that has been laminated. We plan to frame it and put it in our living room. I hope we get around to doing it some day (we've had it for a while).

Woo Hoo, I get to change from a NO to a YES, a huge honking one in the hall. I'm so happy.

I voted other....We have a world map and US map...not on our wall, but as the table top of our dining room table where we homeschool. I laid the two maps out on the table (white tablecloth underneath on top of the table) then covered it with a clear tablecloth. Now the table is protected from spills, paints, etc. AND we can see the maps anytime we want or need to!

No. We did when ds was younger though. We had both a world map and a U.S. map in the family room.

I almost voted "no" but then switched to "other" because I remembered that we do have a world map on the living room wall. However, it is a reproduction of a map from the 1600s and is displayed for its artistic value. It's been on our wall since we got married and its placement has nothing to do with the fact that we homeschool.

I voted in the school room but it is actually in the hallway leading into the school room as we didn't have any wall space because of bookcases. We have a world map and a U.S. map side by side.

We have a large, framed world map hung in our kitchen. It has led to interesting dinner conversation. The girls love maps and also have a US map tacked up in their bedroom.
