TraciWA
I know a lot of the midwest and eastern schoolers have already started. I am wondering who is starting after Labor Day and are you starting Tuesday or Wednesday? Or maybe even the next week?

ILiveInFlipFlops
We're not starting until 9/22. We're out of town the week beforehand, so there doesn't seem to be much point to starting for a week, then leaving for vacation. We always start late though—the beginning of September always ends up being a busy time for us.
*Lulu*
We will start on Labor Day. Our first day will probably be a touch lighter than usual.
OnTheBrink
We're starting Labor Day. It's the Monday after our church retreat and I don't have to work that day, so it's the perfect day for us to begin.

NanceXToo
We will start on Labor Day. Our first day will probably be a touch lighter than usual. Us, too. That's what we usually end up doing. Public schools here go back at the end of August. We like to enjoy every bit of summer while it lasts. Winters here are long and cold! redsquirrel
I live in the NE and the schools here don't start until after Labor day. We usually start on Labor Day. It is quiet and not much going on. DH doesn't get it off or anything so it seems like a good day to start.

hsmamainva
We will resume then. We completed some work over the summer, but have now stopped to get our oldest settled into her university dorm next week. Plan to resume full-time, and in earnest, after Labor Day. Katiebug_1976
We are! We had to escape the 115 degree summer heat where we live so we are enjoying a nice long visit with my parents where it is MUCH cooler (had to buy my kids jackets when we got here!LOL!!), so we wont get home until the end of August. We have a wedding to attend the first of Sept. and finishing a long home remodel project (hopefully) so I'm planning on not starting until the second week of Sept. PS started Aug. 9th where we live, but even if we were home, I couldn't imagine trying to stay focused when it was so HOT!!! I love the flexibility of homeschooling!! luvnlattes
We're starting Tuesday. PS doesn't start until Wednesday but we do a once a week co-op so I usually schedule 4 days of work at home. Starting on Tuesday lets me work my normal schedule.
BoyOBoy
We're starting in earnest that Tuesday, along with public schools here in NY. We've been going light most of the summer. I'd wanted to start up earlier, but we are taking a long trip to mid west that had to be in August due to dh's summer classes.

Alice
We will start on Labor Day. I like starting in August but ds has two camps this month and we are hosting an exchange student for only about a week. I didn’t want to start only to break for camp and I didn’t think it would be fair to our student to sit around and watch us do school. Twice we have started on Labor Day itself which seems a little weird but works out well. Dh has the day off so it’s more relaxed and he can help with the 2 year old. We do a lightish day of school in the morning and then do something fun in the afternoon all together. Then on Tuesday we’re ready to do a real full day. thescrappyhomeschooler
We are starting after Labor Day. The schools around here start the last week in August. We have our exchange student until Aug. 30. I have a birthday party and a wedding on Sept. 2, so I'm not sure I'll be ready to start before the 4th or 5th. Wendi
I don't know when I'm starting yet. I don't even have all the books. :001_huh: Honestly, we will likely start with what we have (Bible, literature, math, Japanese) next week. When I get our history and government books, we'll just add those in. I'm way behind with organization this year. Wendi
myfunnybunch
Public school in our district starts the Wednesday after Labor Day. We start school the following Monday, which will be Sept. 10 this year. Cat
mom2one
We'll officially start that Wednesday after we're all settled in from moving Labor Day weekend. Right now we're doing a lot of math and reading review to make up for doing nothing at all in June or July. Of course, by officially I have no idea what were going to do. I'm really taking a relaxed approach this year. I'd probably be an unschooler if it wouldn't freak dh out so much. :-)
