Night Elf
Strange question, but am interested nonetheless. :)
MamaT
I eat the peel, mostly because I'm too lazy to peel it for myself. My youngest two kids usually want theirs peeled.
Corraleno
We only eat organic apples, so we don't peel them (unless I'm making crumble or pie or something). If I couldn't get organic apples, I would peel them. Jackie
Denisemomof4
I voted other because I will only eat the peel if it's organic. Apples are on the dirty dozen, meaning pesticides are heavy, so I will only buy organic. If for some reason I have non organic apples in the house, we deep peel them. Orthodox6
OTHER: organic apples -- eat the peeling pesticide apples -- toss the peeling
melissel
I do now, but I went through a phase when I was a teen/young adult where I couldn't stand the peels, so I peeled them. I figured, better that I at least eat most of the apple than none of it!
Daisy
We always eat the peel. We also buy organic. Kids can't even imagine not eating the peel. If I peel the apple for apple pie, they are fighting over the peel scraps. LOL.
Dawn in OH
We buy organic, and eat the peel. Owen sometimes wants his apple peeled.
Melissa in Australia
We have a huge orchard, and mostly have our own apples. We don't peel them.
Mynyel
I said other...only because sometimes I eat the peel....sometimes I don't :)
joannqn
We buy organic and eat the peel. If making something with cooked apples, I peel them.

bookfiend
Yes, it's the healthiest part (so I've been told), but only after I wash it with soap first.
Heidi @ Mt Hope
I voted yes on the peel, but I peel apples for applesauce and pie and occasionally for fruit salad.
HRAAB
Yes, but I rarely buy apples. We store our own apples over the winter. We just ate the last ones on Mother's Day.
DarlaS
I think this is the first poll I have voted "other" on! Really "both" would have been more appropriate. If I eat an apple all by itself, I eat the peel. If I put apple on my salad or in my oatmeal, I peel it.
Melissa in FL
Oops, I read the question wrong and answered no. But we do eat the peel. Well, the kids and I do, dh doesn't like it. All the vitamins are in the peel, why throw it away! Melissa
Guest mrsjamiesouth
We eat the peel. When my ds5 was 3 he would eat the entire Apple; core and seeds.
MorganClassicalPrep
I eat the peel, DD wants hers peeled. I've recently been switching over to organic dairy, produce and meat, and hoping I can find organic apples and strawberries. I have been to two grocery stores and can't find either organic!! :glare:
courtney.byrum
We typically eat the peel. DS went through a phase where he wanted a whole apple and would just eat the peel off and then give it back :)
mom4him
We only eat organic apples, so we don't peel them (unless I'm making crumble or pie or something). SilverMoon
Eat the peel. I wonder if my children even know peeled is an option.
lionfamily1999
We eat the peel. When my ds5 was 3 he would eat the entire Apple; core and seeds. Lol, mine too :D
AngieW in Texas
I can't stand apple skin. I always peel it off. My 12yo only eats apples that have been peeled. My 14yo prefers to eat her apples whole.
Night Elf
I never thought about considering organic vs. non-organic. I prefer buying organic fruits too, but I still peel the apples. The peeling is just such a weird texture for me. :tongue_smilie: And speaking of texture, I rarely buy oranges because I can't stand peeling them. They totally gross me out. My dd12 likes them but she peels them herself.

gaillardia
we don't eat apple peel when it's not organic either.
Lovedtodeath
We typically eat the peel. DS went through a phase where he wanted a whole apple and would just eat the peel off and then give it back :) My DS does this now! I never peel my apples. I always leave the peel no matter what I am cooking with them. I do the same with potatoes and carrots. Fruit and veg skin is good for you! EthiopianFood
This issue has just come up at our house. Dd learned how to eat just the flesh, not the peel, probably from kids at church. Too bad. If she won't eat the peel, she doesn't get another slice. Period. You don't waste food just because you don't like it quite as much. Period. orangearrow
And speaking of texture, I rarely buy oranges because I can't stand peeling them. They totally gross me out. My dd12 likes them but she peels them herself. Cut the oranges into slices instead. I can't stand peeling oranges either - but slicing them is a cinch! (DD#2 uses a spoon to peel her oranges, since she prefers them that way to sliced...)
Peela
The peel is nutritious and just under it is a lot of good stuff. I dont throw away peel. I try and buy organic, but even if its not organic, we just wash well in a fruit and veg wash, and always eat the peel. But then, we also eat potato peel. I dont even peel apples for apple pie.
