  1. 😂 I was just thinking about something similar last night when I was using the toaster my folks received as a wedding gift. They were married in 1970😊 My dad replaced the cord at some point but it's still toasting. The slots are pretty slim compared to newer toasters but, I love seeing it every day and won't replace it 💕
  2. I do occasionally, but I am also taking escitalopram daily. When I get super stressed or anxious I use the propanalol. I have been happy with it as my body and brain were in a kind of panic feedback loop and it regulates my heart rate so my brain can calm down.
  3. I'm sorry Scarlett, my deepest sympathy for you and your family. ((Hugs))
  4. @MEmamaThere are several different types. For me they were in the walls of the uterus(biggest one 6cm and still growing) and extruding inside the uterus so my endometrial lining was weird and my periods we very heavy. I measured once and I had bled 10oz in 5 days! I took BC pills for 10+years and had finally got to a point where I didn't want to do that anymore and had met my deductible earlier in the year so I decided to go for it. There were other options like ablation but with the one still growing and the possibility of it continuing to grow after menopause this was the best decision for me.
  5. I don't post often but wanted to share with you all that I had a hysterectomy yesterday and am feeling pretty good. It was just laproscopic so I only have three pokes in my tum and am a little gassy and crampy but otherwise fine. I am so excited to get on with the rest of my life without my troublesome uterus and fibroid baby. If you are contemplating, go for it! ETA: all my Healthcare workers have been absolute delights and I am so thankful for the hard work they do to take care of us
  6. Thanks for the reassurance. I can't remember when I last felt so FML. Live and learn, I won't be taking it again.
  7. Background: I caught some bug or other, which led to coughing and sinus infection. Then a injury(ribs) from a cow jerking a hay bale I was holding was reinjured by the dog yoinking the leash. More coughing and my I think my rib/ribs are cracked. So in my visits over three weeks to Dr's I was given a 5 day course of prednisone. On day 2 I found that I was slipping into depression, I already take Lexapro for anxiety. Adding to the depression is that I haven't done much of anything in three weeks but ear, sleep, work and watch TV. I only have 1 day left for the prednisone. I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience on it and how long it will likely take to get back to "normal"?
  8. Well done!🤩 For what it's worth, I am familiar with the bad feeling after having to call someone out. For me it was really because I shouldn't have had to set that boundary in the first place, that person should have treated me with the same respect that I gave them. It was just sadness that I didn't have the relationship I wanted to have.
  9. Wow, as a para-librarian I am almost speechless, almost. That is no reason for removing a book from a collection. What happens to freedom of information if the people responsible for collection development and maintenance remove all the books they do not agree with? If you do bring this up to them in the future, turn it around and ask them how they would like it if the shoe were on the other foot and those of us who were liberal, atheists(insert pretty much anything here) because we don't agree with the content 🤬 This goes against what libraries are all about🤯 Do you have access to the policies that are used for collection development and weeding?
  10. No civil service board, and no actual journalism. The city manager is hired by the city. I do know the mayor and ex-mayor but am not sure if they would keep me out of it. <sigh> ETA: Just remembered that I also know one of the city councilors and I think he is someone I can trust. I may contact him and get a feel for what he would do.
  11. I'm just so tired of it, I love most of my job and feeling like I am doing some good and helping peole but the small town politics are doing my head in.
  12. @Jean in NewcastleI did make sure he was aware that it was posted and he sent his letter of interest, probably won't get it but...
  13. Please don't quote, I will delete later. I work for a municipality. I have watched this situation play out for several positions that come up in differnt departments. They post a position having already decided who they will hire and post it within for such a short time that pretty much no one else but the chosen one has time to apply. The latest is a management position that they posted right after someone else in that department who is qualified for the job went on vacation and are closing it 1 day after he gets back + they didn't tell him that they were making a new position and posting while he would be gone. The HR department is 2 people and the head of HR is someone that I thnk has broken confidences of employees to their department head, and is just not interested in doing the best job he can. So, we're working on the good ol' boy sytem here. I have brought up other issues before to the new city manager and HR and was basically told that I can't jump the chain of command by going directly to the city manager. I have to go through my department head, problem is department heads don't want to rock the boat. I don't know if my director is going to bring this up to the city manger or not. HR is not really an option since they are okay with posting jobs in this way and I can't really trust them. I feel like this is all kinds of unethical but don't know what recourse I have. I am having a surgery this fall so I need my insurance until that is done, after that is wrapped up I plan on looking for a differnt job because, of this pattern and other things relating to HR. But, good jobs with good insurance are hard to come by here so I may be stuck for a long time. TIA
  14. The history of why it is classified as a class A drug is quite interesting. 😒 I am in a state that has legalized both medical and recreational marijuana.
  15. I just had something similar last fall. I have had heart burn for years. My heart started skipping beats and I thought the prilosec or ranitadine was causing the skipping beats. The Dr. had me set up with a heart monitor and an upper endoscopy. Both showed no problems. I had already gotten a wedge pillow which has helped with the heartburn and I try to only take 10mg of ranitadine. We ultimately decided that my body was reacting to all my stress. My brain and body were in a feedback loop. I was stressed so my body was reacting to that, which in turn signaled my brain that I was in a stressful situation, repeat ad nauseum. I started escitolopram for anxiety and was given propanolol to regulate my heart rate when I am extra stressed. I mostly don't have any skipped beats now. I have noticed a correlation between taking more heartburn meds than normal for a few days and skipping heart beats. Could be my imagination. But taking the anxiety meds have helped me lower my overall stress levels.
  16. I am job hunting after being in the same place for 7+ years and have an interview this week with a company that looks to have smilar simalr benefits to where I am now. (All that to say it's been a while since I have had to think about any of this) My current employer does a straight 5% match for 401k retirement, the place I am interviewing with has this wording"With company contribution matching at 15% of a Team Member’s contribution up to a maximum of 15% of a Team Member’s income" Does that mean they will match up to 15% or that they will match 15% of my 15% ?
  17. Maybe these will help? I used the second link to verify that the KN95 masks that my employer provided were approved so that I could purchase some for my parents. I selected "Personal Protective Equipment and Related Medical Devices" in the blue area near the top of the page and then searched for the manufacturer that was listed on the mask package and on Amazon. HTH😊 FAQs on the EUAs for Non-NIOSH Approved Respirators During the COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Use Authorization
  18. Mostly I lurk and read the boards daily as my homeschooling days are over and I have a career in the library world but I value the varying opinions and information I can always find here. I am doing course work for a class I am taking on Supervision and Management. If you are/were a Supervisor or Manager would you mind answering a couple of quick questions? You can PM the answers if you like. Brief answers are fine. TIA 😊 1. What are 3 things you enjoy best about your position as a Supervisor/Manager? 2. What are 3 things you enjoy least about your position as a Supervisor/Manager? 3. What advice do you wish someone had given you when you first became a Supervisor/Manager?
  19. I believe they are just an annual, so if you cut them off/mow/ weed whack they should die when it gets cold. They do have a very long tap root so they are very hard to pull up if the ground is not soft.
  20. https://www.amazon.com/Ifactory-SomeByMi-Aha-Bha-Pha-Exfoliation-Brightening/dp/B07BYJF7L7/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1WPW968JXMD88&keywords=some+by+mi&qid=1563488503&s=gateway&sprefix=some+%2Caps%2C198&sr=8-2 This has helped my teen's acne. It works fairly fast for him.(sometimes overnight) Now, he doesn't always use it consistently...... My skin doesn't like it. I'm very sensitive to salicylic acid. It dries my skin up too much.
