It went fairly well - we have a masonry heater so we can always be warm. We got water in town to flush with and use so that part was ok. Our shed is very cold so we put all the fridge stuff in there, and outside was well below freezing so we put everything from the freezer into a box outside. I do love the silence that comes with no fridge so might just leave it off for a few more days. The best hack was that years and years ago dh and I used to listen to shortwave radio for fun, and we still have a radio that has a dynamo built into it - it's a crank on the side of the radio that gives it power.
