9th grader:

Math at PS or through AOPS

Science at PS or online

Spanish 2 at PS

World History I (of 2 years, modified Great Books study) - BJU plus lit

English - my plans including Ancient and Middle Ages lit

Computer Science (1/2 credit)

Logic

Band at PS, plus orchestra and clarinet and piano lessons

Health and phys ed (1/2 credit each)

Maybe 1/4 of Wheelock's for Latin, depending on how the schedule works out.

We are waiting to figure out the PS schedule. She will definitely go for Band and Spanish, and either Math or Science. PS classes wouldn't be my first choice academically, but she loves a classroom environment, and the kids seemed nicer than the homeschool co-op kiddos who picked on her for being different.

Well, since I just wrote today's work in our 4 year planner, I guess that marks the no turning back point. No matter how much I push on their heads, they aren't growing back into cute elementary school kids.

German 2 - German Online from OSU

Latin 1A- Lukeion

English - Intro to Literature (Windows to the World with Coop), Writing with Skill 2 and lots of extra reading and writing assignments

Algebra 2 - AoPS text only

Physics - College Physics book by Knight Jones and Regentrude's awesome outlines (hoping this will set them up to take the AP Physics AB test)

History - Civil War to Cold War (TOG schedule to keep me on track, with MANY substitutions. We've been doing the Civil War all summer, using Battle Cry of Freedom, Ken Burns' The Civil War, Teaching Company The American Civil War and Red Badge of Courage. This is the sort of model we'll keep following as we move forward. Lectures, videos, field trips and lots of books.)

Coop classes include Technical Art (for the 9th grader) and geography (for the 8th grader). Piano, cross country, swim team, volunteering at a historic site and scouts (I'm about a week from having two Life Scouts) will round things out.

I knew better than to read this thread while I was in the middle of planning!

Seriously, today was the day to get it all out of my head and on to paper. I am the type that has to stew on things for months, then it falls into place on the last day.

Except, of course, when I read threads like this! I just added in about 9 more credits :D,

Is leaving you now, and won't come back until I am done!:auto:

The problem is that you just pushed. You have to hit them with a thick textbook pretty hard.

Congratulations on starting high school. I know you put a lot of thought into all those selections!!

Since they are taller than I am, I'd now have to stand on a chair to wallop them with the book. Fortunately, I've got one left that I'm taller than.

I did put a lot of time into the picks. Now I have to put a lot of time into actually doing them, rather than searching for alternatives.
