Teaching Taco Bell's Canon

Recommended Posts

Funny, but as an avid reader growing up, I had exactly the opposite problem -- there were many words I had only read in books, but never heard spoken, so I totally bungled the their pronunciation.

Too funny, but I've had that happen before as well.

:iagree: My kids do this too!

My mom still teases me about mispronouncing diabetes (DIE-uh-bates) in second or third grade. :tongue_smilie:

So someone tell me what Taco Bell's Canon was supposed to be. I can't figure it out.:glare: (and I know I'll feel stupid once it is made clear.:D)

Pachelbel's Canon in D

It could be worse-I've seen music majors write entire papers referring to the "cannon", making poor Pachelbel sound pretty militaristic :).

This is my kids. Fortunately, they are often amused by their own foibles as well.

Mine too! Sometimes we think it is so funny, we start saying it the wrong way on purpose. It gets to be a habit and I forget which way is right. :001_smile:

That article is hilarious.

Oh, okay. I get it now.

I'm not much into classical music. Like art, I know what I like but don't know anything about what I like.

You should listen to it. It is a beautiful piece of music, and I bet you'll recognize it right off. Now you know it's Taco Bell's Canon.

:iagree: Dh, my high school sweetheart, still teases me about having this problem in high school. I could not for a long time hear/say the difference between irreverent and irrelevant.

My oldest daughter was quite well read and often mis-spoke, too... One of the favorites was when she went out on a canoe with friends, came home and said that she had a great time on the "can-oh". We still tease her about that!

Reminds me of a collection of historical bloopers that I read many years ago.

56 B.C And All That

ETA: Oh, my. I just read it again and it is even funnier (sadder?) now that I am homeschooling and hear my children's mistakes and misunderstandings. Seriously good read!

That was funny. :)

Thanks.

(My kids were being silly at the time and happily thought I was giggling at them)
