blessed3x
Craigslist comes up with a statement. There is a 10 second wait and then you have to click the link at the bottom to go to the Craigslist page.
CountitallJoy
Parent at the Helm (Linda Dobson's blog), Reddit, BoingBoing, lots of others have gone "down" for the day. Many, many others, (Facebook, WordPress, etc.) have issued statements against this horrible legislation.

Parrothead
Amazon! :001_huh: Kidding, although I did check to be sure. :D Amazon would be nuts to shut down over this. Their purchasing customers would go somewhere else to order and they would lose that business. And take the chance that the customer who shops elsewhere will like elsewhere better. TravelingChris
It would only be American thing because it is a protest against two proposed pieces of American legistlation- SOPA and PIPA. I have written to my representatives against these bills but that was last week.

MrsMe
I agree the legislation is ridiculous...more control. But these that are boycotting are hurting the very people like us that would not want the legislation anyway, so what's with the black out. Dumb question? Edited January 18, 2012 by alilac major clarification typo. Sheesh.

But these that are boycotting are hurting the very people like us that would not want the legislation anyway, so what's with the black out. Dumb question? Most of them aren't actually blacking out. They are just making you see when you first get there that they could be blacked out. Most are just banners or make you wait a few seconds before getting to your site. Even Wikipedia can be accessed if you press ESC before the message pops up.

brightside
It is to raise awareness. NanceXToo
My husband says Slickdeals has something similar to Google. Meetup.com has a little black bar across the top with a line that says "Stop censorship with a hyperlink that says "read up and speak up so you're free to meet up."
