Banks requiring we prove how we spent a gift?
brightside replied to LisaKinVA's topic in General Education Discussion Board
:iagree: Sounds like OP is dealing with the same bank that I am. I am begging my husband to just withdraw the application (however the mortgage will be half what we currently spend on rent). -

How do i know where nickel is?
brightside replied to amo_mea_filiis.'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
My sister in law is allergic to nickel, I will have to ask her about any clothing issues. However, I know she can not wear sterling silver jewelry either because most of the time the silver is mixed with nickel. She has to wear gold or white gold. I thought this might help on the earring swap. -
If you conceal carry while you're running..
brightside replied to zookeeper's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have been looking at this one. (Warning there are pictures of women in bras, as this is a bra holster) http://ultimateconcealedcarry.com/pin-up-collection/the-marilyn.html I have sent an email because my gun is not listed. I have an LCR. -
How much is gas in your area?

$3.95  -
This is probably overly simplified, but it should give you the gist. This was how it was explained to me before I started studying it further. Keynesian = "It takes money to make money" SPEND Austrian = "Saving for a raining day = prosperity" SAVE My favorite beginner's book on Austrian Economics is "How an Economy Grows and Why it crashes". If my history is correct (I am too tired to google) the US moved to Keynesian economic theory in the 50s. We originally used the Austrian method.

Helping parents with financial concerns
brightside replied to Night Elf's topic in General Education Discussion Board
:iagree: This. My brother is currently the whipping boy for my parents. He saved their house from foreclosure and got them on a budget where they have a nest egg for the first time in their entire lives (which they will need, my father has cancer)...yet they absolutely hate him for it. Please be careful. -

Welcome!!! -
I am new to the raw milk. I am loving it, I am not having any of the tummy troubles that I had with regular milk. It is pricey and with the current legal issues surrounding natural foods, I am worried about how long I will have access to it.

This is my favorite on explaining economics. http://www.amazon.com/How-Economy-Grows-Why-Crashes/dp/047052670X/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1329698602&sr=8-3 -
I am looking for a Great Books discussion for my son for next year. I have been researching Great Books academy, but they seem pricey. Has anyone here done the discussions? If you don't mind I would love any and all opinions either in this thread or feel free to PM me. or I would love to know about any other similar programs. thanks!!

Don't worry about the end of year evaluations. You can order the CAT test online from Seton for about $25 and that is all you need for the requirements. You can save time and money now and do a more comprehensive testing later when your settled if you so choose. https://www.setonhome.org/testing/request.php?secure=1 I have been happy with C.H.E.S.S., however it is in Centreville (which would be about 20 minutes from you depending on traffic). ttp://www.chessclasses.org/ There several email groups in Loudoun which is the next county over (some will be close for you). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EasternLoudounHomeschoolers/ or Reston Reston Eclectic Homeschoolers -
What's wrong with my son's feet?
brightside replied to joannqn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My son has that, his podiatrist said it was a fungal infection and prescribed cream. I can grab the box and give you the name if you want when he finishes in the shower. -
:iagree: I got myself on the PTO board (Vice-President) and worked 30+ hours a week and they would not let any parents near the classrooms. I did after school enrichment (when they couldn't stop me), fundraisers and community activities. Boy, did they hate me. They don't want involved/active parents they want Stepford-parents.

:iagree: My SIL has 2 trained therapy dogs. They visit patients at the hospital and they also go to the library and kids with reading difficulties read to the dogs. She and her dogs have been through extensive training and her dogs are extremely well-behaved and patient. She does not take them into stores, restaurants, etc.

:iagree: The same for Barnes and Nobles.
