Kidding, although I did check to be sure. :D

Amazon would be nuts to shut down over this. Their purchasing customers would go somewhere else to order and they would lose that business. And take the chance that the customer who shops elsewhere will like elsewhere better.

I agree the legislation is ridiculous...more control. But these that are boycotting are hurting the very people like us that would not want the legislation anyway, so what's with the black out. Dumb question?

Most of them aren't actually blacking out. They are just making you see when you first get there that they could be blacked out. Most are just banners or make you wait a few seconds before getting to your site. Even Wikipedia can be accessed if you press ESC before the message pops up.

Thanks for this!!!! I've tried to access three different things on wikipedia today, not thinking about the blackout. Then I have to spend time searching real sites looking for my answers.

Khan Academy made a video explaining why SOPA and PIPA are so controversial. :001_smile:

Thanks!

Slippery slope and draconian law if it is passed. For example, I would suspect even those who go onto Pinterest and pin a photo could by this law be suspected of breaking intellectual copyright law.

And therein lies the problem. Sites with user-generated content can be taken over and blacked out.

Piracy is a problem, but this isn't the right solution.
