DawnM
Over the holidays, we were given 3 pounds of salami, cheeses, and crackers. I ended up taking them as a platter to three different parties. But what I found was that the salami always got gobbled up but the cheese and crackers barely were touched. Tonight I need to take something to a potluck and I am out of salami, so that won't work. I am so tired I just don't have it in me to prep anything.
Daria
I love salami! But I also love cheese and crackers, so I probably would have been making little open faced sandwiches with all 3 and eating them proportionately.
Laura Corin
Salami would have worked in this situation too, although it's less likely to be in the freezer http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-42648624
happi duck
I wonder if people see salami as more of a "cheat" than cheese and crackers so it's more of a special holiday treat.
Seasider
Every now and then I like a bit of summer sausage on a charcuterie tray. But it is too easy to eat, despite how unhealthy it feels to eat it! So, I don't often buy it. Not sure why it gets eaten more than the cheese, I like them in equal proportions.
Seasider
Oh, I once in a blue moon buy Genoa salami if I'm going to make a muffuletta. But that's rare.
creekland
I like many salamis, but not all. If they're sweet or too hot, then no. The cheese and crackers that tend to come with those sets I'm not fond of at all, so your experience doesn't surprise me in the least. I like good cheeses - left out to be at room temperature. Gouda, Muenster, and Havarti are often favorites when I take cheese and crackers places, along with Club crackers (can use others, but Club seems to be the most popular).
Kassia
My family would eat the salami over the crackers and cheese.

foxbridgeacademy
It might have something to do with cheese to cracker to salami ratio.
lailasmum
What kind of cheese and crackers? I think if it's something fairly plain then people might just prefer the salami as being more interesting. For a lot of people cheese and crackers is a really standard day to day snack so may not seem as attractive as salami.
marbel
I like salami sometimes. I would probably eat salami and cheese and skip the crackers.

Mbelle
I prefer sopressata over other types of salami style sausages.
Night Elf
I love salami. I have a salami sandwich at least 3 times a week. Half an ounce is only 50 calories and that's all I need. I also love pepperoni as a snack. I buy turkey pepperoni though. Sometimes I eat it with cheese and crackers.
Lady Florida.
I like salami from the deli, sliced very, very thin (almost shaved), but I don't care for salami type sausages. If I had been there I'd have helped make the cheese and crackers disappear. :)
Selkie
I don't eat salami or crackers, but I'm always happy to eat good cheese. :)
Debbi in Texas
I like all three. When I was pregnant, my favorite sandwich was salami with Kraft sandwich spread on white bread.
wintermom
Salami is just so tasty! I'd definitely fill up on salami before cheese or crackers.
wintermom
I'm not even sure what's in salami :D I never want to find out. I just want to keep on eating it in complete ignorance. ;)
SparklyUnicorn
I assume it's meat, fat, and spices/seasonings. Whatever it is, it's yummy. My sister bought me a variety pack of sausages/cheeses. They were really good!
ILiveInFlipFlops
I love salami! But Creekland has a good point about the quality of the cheeses in some of these kinds of sets, so if that's how they were given to you, it's definitely possible that that's a cause of the disparity.

I pick out our meats and cheeses individually. Our grocery store has a cheesemonger and so they have a decent selection.

gstharr
I'm not even sure what's in salami :D I worked in a meat market/deli for a year in high school. Trust the adage. You don't want to know. To this day, I pause before buying anything with ground meat.btw, I do like salamii--buon gusto is my favorite Italian style..
