angela in ohio
I can't go back there. I just can't. I have seen a lot of bad eighties fashions come back, but this will jump the shark...

SherryTX
...its ALREADY here! I first noticed the kids in the high schools doing it about 4 years ago when my sister moved in with us and we went to an orientation at the school together. OH MY. Now I LOVED the 80s! But fashion was not one of the things I care to see come back either haha. I wonder why parachute pants haven't made a comeback? You would think all the emo kids would want a pair. HeatherLynn
Oh yes, they are. AND the side ponytail. My DD had to dress 80's last night for a musical she was in. I was cracking up because she said "Oh, so pretty much I can dress like the kids to now?"
elegantlion
My sil's kids had 80s day at their school. :D Not too long ago I saw a teenage boy with 2 polo shirts both collars up and plaid shorts. I had to look twice I thought I was having a flashback.

Mamagistra
Hm...popped collars don't bother me. In fact, I adore (many) eighties fashions. On the whole, they sure seem a lot happier and more refined than many of the trends since. I'm all for a revival...as long as Polo for Men and Giorgio remain in the time capsule. :ack2: (Oh, and jumpsuits.) :D

BikeBookBread
FOUR popped collars?!! That is CRAZY! My personal preppy record in about 1983: Pink Polo - popped collar Green Izon - popped collar White button-down broadcloth shirt over the top Green Brooks Brothers Sweater tied over my shoulders Corduroy a-line skirt Shining-so-bright penny loafers (with shiny pennies placed) No socks I was a proud owner of the preppy handbook. If it wasn't in it, I didn't wear it. I even had one of those wooden-handled purses where you could change-out the fabric purse part. jensway
I remember those big earrings that a fisherman could use as bait. Then there were the twister beads. KidsHappen
Leg warmers and scrunchy socks! Well, this explains my children's favorite fashion accessories. They were all wearing leg warmers the other day and I just had to ask them where they got them. I was expecting the answer to be Goodwill but no they bought them brand new at Rue 21. One of them has taken to wearing leggings under everything, of course this child has a style all her own but I can definitely see some 80s influence. KidsHappen
If the 80s clothing is coming back in style does this mean that mom jeans will no longer be mom jeans? They'll just be jeans? Because I am still wearing the same jeans I wore in the 80s. But then I am also still wearing concert T-shirts from the 70s. Did the 90s have style? What about the 2000s? I have kinda been outta touch with the fashion world for awhile.
