* If your dirty book has glossy covers, don't be shy about using a spray cleaner like 409 and a rag. Wiping down books can make a HUGE difference. Slime, grit and sticker residue can be removed with Goo Gone or Goof Off.

Glad she is home safe. Walkie talkie does get block by buildings, we have a long range set. Prepaid phones might be a safer option.

we emailed a teacher yesterday. He responded. Then emailed an hour later wanting to know if Ds needed more help. So far all class recordings are on their pages as well. Did the teacher provide a way to contact them for questions?

They are using Adobe Connect this year. DD's teacher loves the new system & didn't have any trouble putting up the recording. DD prefers Blackboard.

I'd be having a fit if they were completely rescheduling the class times for the entire year! They are simply rescheduling the class for a specific week. I'm just suprised at the number this early in the year. We had a few over the course of the entire year last year, which I can understand, but three in three weeks of class seems like a lot. It is not illegal, the printed remark is not binding. The publishers send large numbers of unrequested books to instructors, trying to get them to adopt the book. there have been rulings that the instructor who receives unsolicited merchandise is under no obligation to adhere to these requests.

I would consider it an ethics issue if an instructor *requested* a book and then sold it - but the reality is that, if the instructor requests *one* specific textbook to see if he wants to adopt it, he will then also receive ten other books he never wanted to inspect. And those then end up at textbook sellers, in pristine condition.
