Need idea for DD! A dish/dessert that takes under 10 minutes to make, requires no stove/oven. I'm stumped!

DD9 is at a week-long day camp this week. One class she is taking is Fast Food (food that doesn't take long to prepare). They are having a little competition on Friday, which is Family Day. So the family can help her out. We need a dessert that requires no stove or oven (they have a few microwaves, a mixer, and a toaster). The ingredients need to be portable because I'll need to bring them from home. So I could bring a cooler if something needs to be kept cold. And it needs to take 10 minutes or less from start to finish. And it needs to taste good. :laugh: It can be any type of food....snack, meal, dessert, anything.

 

Any ideas???

Instant pudding but the milk might be a problem. canned fruit sald? Use canned fruit, open and mix. ummm...ohh...canned fruit salad WITH an instant vanilla pudding sauce? Rice Crispie Treats using the microwave directions? I have never made them that way so I cannot vouch for ease, etc..

Oreo "Salad"

 

1 pkg Oreos, crushed (reserve a few whole cookies for decorating the top)

2 instant Choc. pudding mixes

3 c. milk

1/2 pt. heavy whipping cream

splash of vanilla

 

Combine pudding mixes with the milk.  Add in crushed Oreos and mix.  In a separate bowl, whip cream and vanilla to stiff peaks.  Fold whipped cream into pudding and Oreos.  Cool in fridge. Serve with a whole Oreo stuck in the top as decoration.

Strawberry shortcake:

 

Mini or regular sponge or pound cake

Can strawberry pie filling

whipped topping

 

Pour strawberry filling over cake and top with whipped topping. 

 

(Why is this thing marking strawberry as spelled wrong only in my previous sentence?)

The two favorite summer desserts at our house:

 

1. Sliced watermelon

Ingredients: one watermelon.

Slice and serve. If on porch, see who can spit seeds farthest.

Time: one minute

 

2. Strawberries and cream

Ingredients: strawberries, heavy cream.

Core strawberries. Pour cream over them.

Time: three minutes

Alternative: peaches and cream. As above.

You can make Rice Krispy treats in the microwave. We used to do it in the dorm with a baggie full of cereal, pat of butter, and handful of marshmallows snatched from the dining hall. ;) If you cut the recipe in half and have the ingredients premeasured, it would be done easily in 10 minutes. :) You could do Fruity Pebbles or Cocoa Pebbles/Krispies to be fancier.

 

 

Homemade Magic Shell:

 

Ingredients

1 cup milk or dark chocolate chips

2 tablespoons coconut oil

 

Zap in microwave 30 seconds, stir, repeat. Dip chilled strawberries, pineapple spears, marshmallows and they'll set up immediately.

Chocolate Mousse: (Need a microwave and whisk or beater).

 

Melt 15g butter (about a tablespoon) and 1 slab of chocolate (200g - broken into pieces) in the microwave (stop before the pieces are fully melted and stir until melted to prevent burning).

 

Set it aside to cool.

 

Separate an egg, and beat the white until stiff.

 

Whip 250ml (1cup) of cream.

 

Stir the egg yolk into the chocolate mix. Don't worry if if goes lumpy at this stage - the next stage will sort it out.

 

Mix the egg white into the chocolate mix. Stir vigorously until the mixture looks shiny and smooth.

 

Fold in the whipped cream.

 

Refridgerate for a while if possible for better texture, but it still tastes good if eaten immediately!

Strawberry Panzanella~Take a loaf of white bread and toast slices. Butter lightly and sprinkle with brown sugar. Cut into squares. Put in bowls. Slice strawberries. Cover bowls with some Greek yogurt. Cover with strawberries. Sprinkle with more brown sugar. 

 

Fruit Salsa with chips~Butter and sprinkle flour tortillas with cinnamon/sugar. Microwave until crispy. Cut with into wedges (like tortilla chips) with a kitchen shears or pizza cutter. Make a fruit salad with whatever kind of fruit you prefer. Add a few TBL or so of jam (your preference but strawberry or raspberry is good). Use wedges to scoop fruit. 

 

Bruchetta~Toast bread. Chop a clove of garlic fine. Add salt. Clean seeds from several tomatoes. Chop into squares. Chop basil. Add just enough olive oil to bring it all together. (You can add onions or cucumber, more garlic, etc. but this is my standard).

Spaghetti

 

Heat a jar of spaghetti sauce.

In the meantime, use another microwave or an electric kettle if you have one to boil water. Pour it over ramen noodles (don't add the seasoning packets). Let stand for 5 minutes or so and then drain the noodles and pour sauce over the top.

Peaches and cream - lightly whip some cream with a tablespoon of sugar, dice some peaches, pour whipped cream over peaches, serve and eat.

 

Fancy ramens - mince mushroom, onion, and carrot and add to water for ramens, cook per package directions in the microwave, add a raw egg to the still boiling noodles as soon as it comes out of the micro and stir so the egg scrambles and cooks in with the noodles, serve and eat.  This one is actually a complete meal, though maybe not the healthiest.  If you don't like the egg idea, you can drain most of the water and add cheese or precooked meat as your protein.

For a snack:: salsa and chips.  Use the food processor for restaurant style or hand chop for pico de gallo.  With a toster oven a person can also make nacos.

 

 

For a dessert: fruit pizza.  Round sugar cookie, sweetened cream cheese, topped with sliced fruit

Avocado Dip ( layered)

 

Mix one avocado with 8 oz cream cheese, 8 oz sour cream and one package of taco seasoning. (Less if you don't like it spicey)

 

Spread onto a platter or some kind of serving dish.

 

top with Lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, shredded cheese and sliced black olives.

 

Serve with tortilla chips.

Eton mess

 

Whipped cream

Meringues

Fruit such as strawberries and raspberries.

 

Basically you whip the cream. Crush the meringues into a mix of big and small bits and chop fruit if needed. Then stick it all in a bowl and mix. It's basically a pavlova thats had an accident.
