Songs for infant funeral

Recommended Posts

My SonIL's sister gave birth to tripletts at 24 weeks this past Friday, one did not make it and the other two are in NICU. The service for the baby girl is Thursday and I need a few songs for the funeral so I can put together a CD. I have Fly by Celine Dion. If you know others that are fitting, please share.

Also please keep the entire family in your prayers. Mom is young, this was her first pregnancy...and everyone is grieving :(

the Untitled Hymn by Chris Rice. (I think)

this is a good song, makes me cry.

:grouphug: for the family. I dont know many songs, but if you wanted gift/memory items, Etsy is a good option. They have things from cards to memory boxes, etc.

I do make cards for free for moms who have lost a baby, ill send you a PM, but i dont mind making one. :grouphug:

I am so very sorry. I lost my twin baby girl at birth. It is so hard to have survivors as people do not know what to say. I will always be a mother to twin girls. Just as she will always be a mother to triplets.

We had a funeral. We played One Moment More by Mindy Smith.

ETA: When she is up to it, have her get in touch with Jean at CLIMB(Center for loss in Multiple Births)http://www.climb-support.org/

This is a wonderful support group for those who have lost one/two/three etc or all of their multiples. Jean was a godsend to me and so were those people on the forums.

"Held" by Natalie Grant.

Lyrics

Two months is too little

They let him go

They had no sudden healing

To think that providence

Would take a child from his mother

While she prays, is appalling

Who told us we'd be rescued

What has changed and

Why should we be saved from nightmares

Were asking why this happens to us

Who have died to live, it's unfair

This is what it means to be held

How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life

And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know

That the promise was that when everything fell

We'd be held

This hand is bitterness

We want to taste it and

Let the hatred numb our sorrows

The wise hand opens slowly

To lilies of the valley and tomorrow

This is what it means to be held

How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life

And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know

That the promise was that when everything fell

We'd be held

If hope if born of suffering

If this is only the beginning

Can we not wait, for one hour

Watching for our savior

This is what it means to be held

How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life

And you survive

This is what it is to be loved and to know

That the promise was that when everything fell

We'd be held.

Here are the words to the one I suggested:

"I Know that My Redeemer Lives"

by Samuel Medley, 1738-1799

1. I know that my Redeemer lives;

What comfort this sweet sentence gives!

He lives, He lives, who once was dead;

He lives, my ever-living Head.

2. He lives triumphant from the grave,

He lives eternally to save,

He lives all-glorious in the sky,

He lives exalted there on high.

3. He lives to bless me with His love,

He lives to plead for me above.

He lives my hungry soul to feed,

He lives to help in time of need.

4. He lives to grant me rich supply,

He lives to guide me with His eye,

He lives to comfort me when faint,

He lives to hear my soul's complaint.

5. He lives to silence all my fears,

He lives to wipe away my tears

He lives to calm my troubled heart,

He lives all blessings to impart.

6. He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly Friend,

He lives and loves me to the end;

He lives, and while He lives, I'll sing;

He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.

7. He lives and grants me daily breath;

He lives, and I shall conquer death:

He lives my mansion to prepare;

He Iives to bring me safely there.

8. He lives, all glory to His name!

He lives, my Jesus, still the same.

Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives,

"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

The Lutheran Hymnal

Hymn #200 from

Text: Job 19:25-27

Hello Good-Bye by Michael W. Smith. It was written for the loss of an infant. It's always made me cry, even more so after losing our own.

ETA: Here's the Lyrics:

Where's the Navigator of your destiny?

Where is the Dealer of this hand?

Who can explain life and its brevity?

'Cause there is nothing here that I can understand

You and I have barely met

And I just don't want to let go of you yet

Noah, hello, good-bye

I'll see you on the other side

Noah, sweet child of mine

I'll see you on the other side

And so I hold your tiny hand in mine

For the hardest thing I've ever had to face

Heaven calls for you before it calls for me

When you get there save me a place

A place where I can share your smile

And I can hold you for more than just awhile

Noah, hello, good-bye

I'll see you on the other side

Noah, sweet child of mine

I'll see you on the other side

I'll see you on

I'll see you on

I'll see you on

I'll see you on

I'll see you on the other side

Noah, hello, good-bye

I'll see you on the other side

Noah, sweet child of mine

I'll see you on the other side

Oh, Noah, hello, good-bye

I'll see you on the other side

Oh, Noah, sweet child of mine

I'll see you on the other side

On the other side

Noah is the name of the baby the song was written for.

With Hope Lyrics

Steven Curtis Chapman

This is not at all how

We thought it was supposed to be

We had so many plans for you

We had so many dreams

And now you've gone away

And left us with the memories of your smile

And nothing we can say

And nothing we can do

Can take away the pain

The pain of losing you, but ...

We can cry with hope

We can say goodbye with hope

'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no

And we can grieve with hope

'Cause we believe with hope

(There's a place by God's grace)

There's a place where we'll see your face again

We'll see your face again

And never have I known

Anything so hard to understand

And never have I questioned more

The wisdom of God's plan

But through the cloud of tears

I see the Father's smile and say well done

And I imagine you

Where you wanted most to be

Seeing all your dreams come true

'Cause now you're home

And now you're free, and ...

We have this hope as an anchor

'Cause we believe that everything

God promised us is true, so ...

So we can cry with hope

And say goodbye with hope

We wait with hope

And we ache with hope

We hold on with hope

We let go with hope

I know this is probably too late, but maybe someone else can use it. It always reminds me of my babies.
