UPDATE one day later: I just downloaded a bunch of Evan Moor eBooks that we also may use for Language Arts/Geography/Writing/etc...

I have switched everything over this year to A Beka for a few reasons

1. DD likes colorful

2. I like ease

3. I started back to school in January for my BSN, working toward my Masters in Nursing/CNM and I really need the stuff all planned out since I am not giving up homeschooling AND I work 24 hours a week.

So, I will be doing A Beka next year for 2nd as well. I just got the last of the books. I think I will also be adding in MOH for history since A Beka really just focuses on the US and I want more. This year we are supplementing with MM for math so we may do that next year, too. I was going to school year round but I think this summer (and probably the next few) it will be just worksheets, extras and IPad to keep her skills up.

I'm pretty sure this is our 2nd grade schedule:

Language Arts:

Rod & Staff English 2

Rod & Staff Spelling 2

Writing With Ease 2 but using selections from My Book House

IEW's Poetry Memorization

Cursive either with or without Memoria Press's kind of pricey cursive book.

History: TruthQuest American History for Young Students Level I

Science: I'm thinking about Christian Liberty Press's science book for 2nd grade and putting off Apologia for her one more year.

Latin: Song School Latin

Math: I really am pleased with the BJU worktext so will probably continue with book 2. But I'm looking at the Rod & Staff series also. I don't know if I'm insane enough to do 2 math books. I'm drawn to R&S's focus on getting the basic arithmetic facts down but I do like that BJU has a smattering of all kinds of fun math concepts and not just basic facts.

Bible: not sure yet.

LA: CLE

History/Geography/Bible: MFW ECC

Science: MFW and following Big sis in Apologia Botany & A&P

Art & Music MFW

I'm SO excited about out switch to CLE and MFW, that we're going to start MFW as soon as I get back from the convention :001_smile:

I think the kids will enjoy it too. And I think we'll be able to go through summer without them really complaining too much... :D

Math -- MM (Blue topics: Add&Sub 2B, Geometry, Money, Time, Mult. 2)

Language Arts -- Finish ETC 7 & 8, CLE 200 (unless I can find a similar secular option)

Science -- Perhaps Galore Park Jr. Science 1

History -- I'm not sure... she doesn't have very good aural comprehension and has trouble focusing - SOTW was a bit of a fail for her. She's good at skills (like math/phonics) but she needs to *do* something to learn, not just listen.
