  1. Knowledge Box also has an Olympics lap book study that is available on Currclick for $1. Sorry, I can't link it on the iPad.
  2. I love these and can't share them enough (I hope the author doesn't mind that I share the link to her blog. She is just FABULOUS to share them all with us!): SOTW 2 timeline and other goodies
  3. I am also interested. I have asked others in the past, and I get blank stares from locals. I explain, and then run for the hills! Anyhoo, let me know...
  4. K12 literature? Not sure if that is in the vein of what you are looking for. I will be using it for fourth grade next year. I think the mom on here (i think her real name is Chelli) with the Planted Trees blog could tell you more about it. I remember her saying that she and her DD have really enjoyed it for 3rd grade. Sorry, I just don't know her screen name on here. If interested in it, do a k12 literature search on the K-8 forum.
  5. ok, not to be a thread hogger... The link in her blog to download them is to 4shared. You click on the download link (to the left of Share With Friends) in the rectangle that houses the picture of the first card. Then another window comes through and you click on the Free Download that is under a square that says Waiting Time 20 seconds. You will have to now sign up for a free account with 4shared, but I have never gotten any spam from them. I hope this makes sense. I don't know how to do screen shots to show what I am trying to explain on clicking on. PM me if you need help, or I confused you further...
  6. The Lizards and Ladybugs blog was shut down and the same nice lady has a new blog that I linked: Tending Our Lords Garden. She is WONDERFUL to share her hard work with us all!
  7. Here That could be what you are looking for. I linked SOTW1, but she has 2 and 3 done as well.
  8. Another vote for the inexpensive Scotch Laminator. Been using it for three years now and going strong!
  9. Not sure if this website will help or not... http://www.k12reader.com/first-grade-spelling-words/
  10. There is the Story of the USA, but it is more comprehension based with questions. The chapters are short and there are only four books. They are in workbook format. Might not be what you are looking for, but I thought I would mention it. ETA:There are teacher guides to these as well.
  11. We had a great year last year with it! Hoping to do. With DD when she is in second grade!
  12. exodusbooks.com homeschoolclassifieds.com amazon.com half.com abebooks.com vegsource.com/homeschool ebay.com craigslist homeschoolbooksforless.com homeeducatorsresource.com I will add more as I remember them. betterworldbooks.com For a while now, they have a 3/$10 for bargain books. Each additional book is $3 more. Must be in the bargain bin though. They once sent me a book that was not in the condition stated, and they promptly refunded me my money for that book. Great customer service!
  13. Yes, the Sight and Sound Theater is GREAT. Being from Rhode Island, I have to say, yes, visit Newport. If you sy for a meal, try coffee milk, the state drink. It's lie chocolate milk made with chocolate syrup, but it is coffee syrup. Newport Creamery has great ice cream. If you need something indoor, the Children's Museum in Providence was a lot of fun. We visited this winter sometime. There is also The Museum of Work and Culture. I haven't been yet, but I hear great things about it from people at home.
  14. Thank you to your husband for recording this! And thanks to Mr. Q for allowing it to be free!
  15. Perhaps pick up a couple/few of the Tri-fold cardboard things that are used at science fairs? If you have an AC Moore or Michaels, you could use a coupon. They run about $5 each. You probably won't need to be as tall though. Sometimes they are sold at the larger dollar stores. Good luck! Edit to add: The ones at the Dollar stores are usually shorter.
  16. I believe the free digital book is Mr. Q Life Science, not Earth Science. The free audio, I believe, is Earth Science. I have nothing else to offer though. That was a great question, OP!
  17. hmm, the copyright on my Teacher Guide is 2006. Maybe there are different versions out there and perhaps they forgot to take this book out of the list of Lesson Components and Materials on page xiii.
  18. Ok, I am back. I found it! Not sure if this is even of interest to you or not. Just thought I would link it so you are not wondering if it could be "the one".
  19. Someone on here raved about a planner a homeschool mom made. There are different covers. The inside is relatively simple. You write down the subjects on a half sheet (the long way) and the M-F pages are turned to go "with" it until you change the half sheet thing (new semester, whatever). I think it was in the $15-20 dollar range. I CANNOT remember what they are called though. The mom/creator of the planner even had a ~5 minute video to explain it. I have thought about getting it, but a simple grid like MFW has seems to work for DS. We will see what DD prefers in the fall; she is a very different child than her older brother! I hope someone might be able to link what I am trying to explain. If I find it, I will come back and link it.
  20. Thanks for the link to those pages. I seem to have others, but not those. Yeah, Getting Started with Spanish is my plan for after Salsa or if Salsa bombs at our house!
  21. I received my email to enroll for the Book It program from Pizza Hut for the fall of 2013-2014. Here is a link to the form. Enjoy!
  22. DD will be using grade 1 in the fall. I just need to get the kit with the wires, bulb, etc. DS would go nuts studying the same topic all year. She likes variety. I will go down rabbit trails, if desire is there. I was going to line up some videos for it over the summer. I don't have time for it right now.
