NavyWifeandMommy
how much do they cost where you live? Here it is $60 for 4 30 minute lessons or $45 for 3 30 minute lessons.
Evergreen State Sue
I'm paying $60 a month for 30 minute lessons once a week no matter how many weekly lessons. DD's lesson is on Tuesdays, so depending on the month, there could be 4 or 5 lessons. But I also pay $60 for December and we usually take a week and sometimes two weeks off. This is a good price around here. The man the co-op uses charges $100 for four 30-minute lessons.
tammyw
We pay $120/month - 30 minutes a week.
Suzanne in ABQ
I pay $75/mo. for three 30 minute private lessons and a 2 1/2 hour group lesson. The group lesson consists of performing for each other, a music appreciation lesson featuring a famous composer, ensemble play, and a game. Wildiris
We pay $280 a month for 1.75 hrs. a week--two kids in CA.
Celia
Our piano teacher comes to our house and is $20 for a 30 min lesson. Average around here if the teacher doesn't come to you is about $15/30mins. But my deal is extra sweet... she's a former hs'ing mom who's kids are now graduated and she really misses hs'ing, so she's teaching my kiddo science for an hour after his piano lesson! Woo hoo! Guest CarolineUK
We pay £35 per hour - that's about $52.5 per hour - I have two boys who each have a 30 minute piano lesson every week. The same teacher also teaches DS11 trombone and DS9 cornet at the same hourly rate, so we pay £70 per week for music lessons, that's about $105. Annabel Lee
$20 per 30 min. lesson, with the option of a 1-hour lesson for $40. This is at her studio, not in my home.
fairytalemama
My friend is a piano and voice instructor. She charges $25 per 30 minute lesson. I think others in the area charge around $20 though. She's able to charge more because she's known for being able to get kids prepared for music camp auditions and thus camp scholarships. G5052
The norm is $25-50/lesson. I won't tell you what I pay because I bartered and pay her just enough to "count." A REALLY good deal.

Lawana
$100 per month for 30 min lessons. We pay 11 months of the year for 40 lessons. Probably the highest in the area, but worth it for us.

Chris in VA
$30 for half hour lesson (once a week), plus books. Dd takes from our amazing music minister at church. She also teaches Dd's choir. She's written a hymn in the Episcopal hymnal--and that is something! Kind, patient, incredibly competent--great lessons, too. She has Dd composing, too. Kalypso
We just found a new teacher who will be coming to our home and teaching 4 kids, so we will be getting a small discount. He will be charging $21 per 30 minute lesson. Usually it is $25 per 30 minute lesson. $20-$25 per 30 minutes lesson seems typical in our area. Carrie12345
We were paying $20/30 min. in a music store where multiple teachers taught. I don't know how much went to the teachers and how much went to the store, if any.
mcconnellboys
I am paying $30 for an hour lesson, once weekly. But I believe she charges $20 for a half hour lesson....
Jen+4dc
$75/month for ds for 30 min piano lessons once a week (although they always go overtime because he's her only student and they're having too much fun to stop...:)). In Jan. my dd will start flute lessons at the same price with the same teacher. She also wants to take piano and ds (who already takes piano) wants to take tuba lessons. Haven't found a teacher for that yet but assuming a similar price that could be $300/month just for music lessons, and that's only 1/2 my kids, what about when the other 2 want to start??
Blackacre Farm
I'm jealous of some of the great deals people have! We are in North Carolina and we pay $30 for a 30 minute lesson and we have to drive 20 minutes to get there! My daughter takes 1 lesson a week, plus we pay extra if the teacher has a group lesson on Saturday. Hmmm, maybe I should shop around a little! mktkcb
So. Cal. here. Going rate in my area is about 30 per half hour lesson, which makes it around 120-150 per month for each, depending on the number of weeks. This is with very qualified (music teachers assn, well trained etc.) teachers.
Imprimis
$30 for 30 minutes. We do love our instructor, though, and the owners of the music store where my kids take lessons.

mich311e
We pay $116 a month for 11 months a year. That gets us 44 30-minute lessons a year. So it works out to about $30 a lesson.

AnitaMcC
how much do they cost where you live? Here it is $60 for 4 30 minute lessons or $45 for 3 30 minute lessons. For my Dd, she gets two 30 minute lessons a week for $38.
Pink Fairy
$20 per 30 minute music lesson, in my home. I have 3 children taking music lessons (2 piano/1 guitar), so it's $60/week for us. We adore our teacher, so I feel like it's a bargain. :001_wub:
luvnlattes
It varies around here. My son's current teacher charges $75 for 4 45-minute lessons. His previous teacher charged $100 for 4 30-minute lessons. The current teacher is every bit as good as his prior one. I think the price difference is due to the fact that the current teacher teaches out of her house here in our small town. His prior teacher teaches at a large co-op about 30 minutes away in a much pricier suburb. That's my guess as to the price difference.
