Jean in Newcastle
That's not a birthday party guest list - it's a wedding guest list;)

Ravin
I could see it for a coming-of-age type birthday; a quinceanera or bar/bat mitzvah type thing. If it's just another birthday, it's kind of nuts.
GWOB
Is your nephew a famous celebrity? Sports star? Politician? Because if he was one of those, I could understand the massive guest list. If not, I fear your hypothesis is correct.

AHASRADA
Why? Judging from the PP's mention of a "maid", unless it was tongue-in-cheek, I suspect the answer is: Because he wants to, and they can afford to. Jean in Newcastle
I panic when I am going to have a party for 5 children. That's all I'm sayin'. When you can afford to have a party for that many kids you can afford to have cleaning help before and after, catering staff to prepare and serve food and perhaps entertainment brought in. Dayle in Guatemala
Is it like one of those "I Want My Sweet 16" parties you see on MTV or something? Tell us more! I can't even fathom that. We had dd's sweet 16 here in September and had about 40 people to our house but, it wasn't all that much work--just a cake and hanging out. Lot's of '80s music. Carrie12345
Not only do I not know 350 people, but my entire graduating class PLUS my whole family (both sides) don't even add up to 350 people. Even if you added in all of the small companies I've worked for in the past, I still don't think it hits that number, lol!
Remudamom
Whoops, sorry, reporting back here. He is 16, got his dad's hand me down Hummer for his birthday and yes there were over 350 guests. Party was held in their own full sized basketball court in the basement, kids were banded on arrival and checked for drugs and booze, there were 12 chaperones and off duty policemen in attendance. FTR the birthday boy is an exceptional child, has very good manners and is smart to boot. If he impresses me....

Well, I guess since they can afford it, and their son is a great kid, then good for them. It sounds like a safe, sane, healthy party. I can't fathom knowing that many people, let alone wanting to host them for a party. . . but to each her own! They must be doing a lot right to have such a great kid!
