Lizzie in Ma
The My Book House series tops the list, then Landmark's with the Artner Readers Guide to American History. If they were all I had to home school with I would still be happy. Troxel's Geography Songs and States and Capitals have never gone out of favor or style here. While I am on songs for learning, Skip Count Kids Bible Heroes is still a favorite even though we are WAY past learning to skip count, the songs are just fun. Dh and I also think the URL="http://singnlearn.org/cgi-bin/ccp5/cp-app.cgi?usr=50X4566982&rnd=1618976&rrc=N&cip=75.67.151.79&pg=prod&ref=164&cat=upperlevelscience"]Lyrical Life Science[/url] songs are brilliant. While I loved SOTW, I was missing the Christian perspective and found Truthquest. I now use TQ with SOTW for 1-4 then TQ with Mystery of History for 5-7. Will continue to use TQ with whatever I use for high school. huge thumbs up for Lively Latin and Galore Park's Latin Prep as well
PixieKris
The first thing I tell people about homeschooling is SOTW. It's our favorite resource, and what our homeschooling has been built around from the beginning. Singapore math is something I will be forever grateful for. It is the second thing we tell people about homeschooling. (Both of these, after, of course, the more important thing like field trips, interest based learning, etc...) IEW saved us, but I know so many people who hate it, it really depends on the child. I wish I'd tried Spelling Workout from the beginning. We love it this year. Trail Guide to Geography is a real keeper. I love the Harp and the Laurel Wreath. We don't use it in any consistent fashion, but we pull it out now and again and do it in chunks. And, I have loved Teaching the Classics.
Free Indeed
I really like Five in a row/ homeschoolshare for my younger children. I follow the trivium as laid out in Teaching the Trivium by Laurie and Harvey Bluedorn. That book has really made an impact on HOW I homeschool my children. Those are the only 2 things I would say are my favorites. Oh, Missionary stories with the millers is a huge hit here.

PeterPan
Well this isn't what you wanted probably, but the number one, best thing I do for our homeschooling is take care of myself. I spend $30 a month on Curves, which has upped my energy, enthusiasm, and zest. It's given me time with other ladies so I come back recharged and ready to focus on discipline, complaining, oh my. I've thought about what I would use if I had a "next time around" and honestly, I think very few curricula are indispensible. It really depends on the dc. I've loved what I've used with this dd, and I could see myself doing totally different things with a different dc. The key is to learn how to teach (using anything) and to stay grounded and happy yourself, so you have energy, strength, and nurturing to pass on. When you're depleted, you have nothing to give. I suppose everybody has different things that recharge them. (haircuts, chocolate, scrapbooking, whatever) For me it's been making time to be with other people to socialize, making time to exercise, and even teaching a class on the side.
