For fun: What leather boots are you liking this year?

I’m out of touch I think on style for footwear….

I have a pair of Merrell boots (these https://www.zappos.com/p/merrell-andover-peak-waterproof-espresso/product/9258280/color/359) in the darkish brown.

Then I have a pair of grey wedge booties I got from StitchFix a few years ago by now that I pull out once in awhile.  https://poshmark.com/listing/Stitch-Fix-Wedge-Booties-5d2cf26419c157288ce61449

I just ordered this pair off Zappos (cuz I love their free and easy returns and might end up sending them right back) https://www.zappos.com/p/lifestride-adriana-mushroom/product/8946321/color/1679

I have a few other random pairs of booties that I pull out now and then, but are not high in my rotation…

I feel like I want a slightly nicer close-to-knee-high boot like the Merrill’s, but am not sure what I should be looking for.  I would wear them with leggings and skinny jeans this winter.  Wondering if anyone has any they are loving!

I’m liking booties and short boots myself. I feel like tall boots are kind of “out”, at least where I live. The Zappos boots with the braid - I literally had that in my favorites and was choosing between it and a couple similar styles days ago. I ended up choosing one with no embellishment on it because I want something that works with skirts and dresses (and I think less embellishment does that better).
I love boots; I’m an autumn girl all the way and boots/booties are my favorite footwear.

My favorite tall boots for gravel paths is the UGG Rosen boots in espresso https://www.amazon.com/UGG-UGG-1005450-Womens-Rosen/dp/B00HZRXH7Y
For mall walking, I have Yeezy tall boots, Aquatalia Mayra ankle boots https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/aquatalia-mayra-weatherproof-lace-up-boot-women/5593268, Aquatalia Bev ankle boots https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/aquatalia-bev-waterproof-bootie-with-genuine-shearling-trim-women/5744338, Valentino Red ankle boots, Vince ankle boots, P448 Denise boots in spark https://www.amazon.com/P448-Denise/dp/B08G8J1J7Q and many others. I wear boots year round, even in summer.

I have a pair of fancy looking UGG boots (like not the typical furry kind). It has a wedge heel, slim fit and goes slightly below the calf. Those are hands down my favorite, haven't bought boots for several years now. I can't find the style on the UGG website.

I may recommend the fancier looking UGGs because the slim boot still had the UGG fur on the inside for comfy and warmth but looks more sophisticated than the furry UGGs of my college days.

Good to know that tall boots are “out”!!  In rural Midwest, we get trends after most of the country does….. That will help narrow down my options.

I’m also curious which ones you ended up going for if you wouldn’t mind sharing!

I've ordered these twice now (the second time after the first pair wore out), and love them.  I wear them every day for about 7 months, and the first pair lasted about 4 years.  🙂

Do these have good arch support?

Last spring I bought two pair of the Teva de la Vina low boot -black and brown. I originally bought a brown pair in 2016 and have nearly worn them out. I wear them for casual wear now as they look well broken in. They are comfortable for me right out of the box, good for walking, and classic enough to go with everything - okay, maybe not formal wear.

I have short legs and tall boots don't look great on me, these hit about right for me.

It definitely has some, although I don't have high arches so I'm not sure if it would be good enough for someone with that particular concern?  Also, this a model that's not being made anymore, so some sizes are harder to come by.  Plenty of online stores still seem to sell them, but not every size is available.  (The good part of that is that they're a lot cheaper now, on sale!)

I am seeing tons of Chelsea boots everywhere.

I am also seeing a lot of these combat boots mixed with platforms….

Tall boots have been out for a long while here also. Ankle boots came in a few years ago and have remained the most popular height.

I don't pay attention to what's in or out, but I love these Dr. Martens and think they are timeless.

I have the 1460 8-eye boots in both black and cherry red. Love that they have so many vegan options.

Short leg problem here, too.  These I like.  I’m going to have to do some digging to find the brown pair as I usually don’t wear too much black.  As in, well, ever, I guess.

Ohhh, my Dr. Marten days….  Gosh, almost half my lifetime ago.  Maybe it’s time to resurrect that old fling….

It seriously makes me laugh how slow styles are to hit out here.  Ok, deep sixing my tall boots, I guess!

Meh. I’m in the wear-what-makes-you-happy camp. I mean, Chelsea boots have been popular here for the last 2-3 years, at least, so… who knows?! They may be on the way out.

Docs were my go to footwear as a teen in the ‘80s but I lost them somewhere along the way as a young adult. Now that I’m older and don't have to pretend to be something I’m not, I bought myself another pair a couple years ago. Oh my. My feet feel like they’ve come home and they make me ridiculously happy. 😎

Go for it! 🙂

Boots I wear:

Dr Martens—they go with everything.

Tall, sheepskin lined black boots I’ve had for 25 years (they cost $100. I could barely afford them at the time but they get heavy use and are still going strong!) Classic, look great with skinny jeans. I live in a winter climate so tall boots are necessary and will never go out of style.

Black ankle booties from Clarks. Super comfortable but I rarely have an occasion to wear them now that I’m not working. Not useful in winter weather, but cute in fall.

Oboz hiking boots. They literally saved me from breaking ankle while hiking/bouldering last weekend.

Keen snow boots. For when nothing else will do.

My daughter just got married in them. 🤣 She’s the queen of understated but on trend, but this was a practical choice.  They hiked about an hour to her photo shoot site.

Wear what you like. 🙂
And look at European fashions if you want to feel “in” - lots of gorgeous tall boots.

European tall boots tend to be cut narrower at the footbed and calfs. Their cuts and sizes (EU 34 to 36) fit me better but people here would comment they need to size up because the boots are too narrow. Locally people have different cold tolerance so we see people in shorts and slides as well as people in parka and tall boots for wind chill.

I want a pair of Doc Martin's so badly!  The pair I want are the first ones that Selkie linked below (the 1460 vegan 8 eye in black).   My question is, at mid 50s, am I too old to be wearing them?  Will it look odd to be wearing them at my age?   Also, if I am not too old to wear them,  do you get your usual size or do they run small/large and/or narrow/wide?

Well I’m 49 and can rock them so….lol. You can definitely wear them too! 🙂
I got my usual size and found them to fit true to size and width.

LOL, didn't know long boots were out, but maybe not here? I only wear them in cold weather, which isn't much around here. LOL. Thanks for these suggestions. I have some in the queue for Black Friday.  I don't really need any, but as usual, the Hive has made me think I do.  Awesome thread.
