Dd and decorated clear glass bulbs today some with paint drops on the inside and some with stickers on the outside. We also put some ribbons in some of them. We also took styrofoam balls and square pieces of material and wrapped the balls and tied the material with ribbon.

Something else that I enjoyed as a kid but dd is to young for is making god's eyes.

DH and I did this about 12 years ago and it was so much fun. Those ornaments are some of our most treasured now. We are going to do it again with the kids this year, since I think they're finally old enough to be careful with them and make them pretty instead of just creating a big mess. The younger your kids are, the better to just let them pick a single favorite color. For older kids and adults, carefully mixing colors creates a beautiful effect. We used some metallics on ours and they are so pretty. Ours look very much like the ones here. As a bonus, there are instructions. :D I also really like the candy sprinkle filled ones here, although I think I'll use tiny beads instead.

I made cinnamon stick Christmas ornaments a couple of years ago with my 4-H kids. Here's the how-to video at Youtube.

It's really easy. I bought the cinnamon sticks in bulk at amazon and they were pretty inexpensive.

The other ornament we made was to take whole walnuts, *carefully* crack them with a nutcracker and remove the nutmeat, then glue the shell halves back together. Glue a loop of gold cord at the top before you glue the shell. Paint the shell with gold or silver metallic tempera paint and you're done.

These glass balls with popcorn make really cute gifts. We used less popcorn and after popping, we iinserted a photo of the kids. http://impressyourkids.org/magic-popcorn-christmas-ornament/

several years ago I made icicles. they're fast and easy. the kids were young and had fun making them. I started with a 2mm clear plastic crystal bead and fed the wire through it and fastened it off. the other end I put through multiple 4mm, 6mm, 8mm plastic faceted crystal bead wtih a tri-bead between each. (how many depends how long you want it.) I then added 10mm and 12mm crystal pinwheel beads. (or any other combination). the other end of the wire I wound around a pencil several times then fed the end back through the beads so no one would be poked. add ornament hook and hang.

Cinnamon ornaments.

1c applesauce to 1.25 c of cinnamon. Costco has lg containers of cinnamon for under 3 dollars. I tripled it and it made a HUGE amount.

Those macaroni snowflakes are adorable.

I like making felt ornaments. Last year we did birds. They are easy for kids to stitch around with embroidery floss. This year I am going to try and teach them blanket stitch.

We did that last year and it went MUCH better than I thought, then they took off with it--they made wee little owls, put buttons on the trees, I loved the stuff they made last year.
