MercyA
I once had a weird virus hang on for about a month. Hoping you feel better sooner than that!
TranquilMind
Lyme? Maybe you can go get a Western blot done.
magnificent_baby
Have you had any heart tests (an echo)? The fatigue and shortness of breath stand out to me. Glad you are going to be seeing a specialist! Can he order any tests while you're waiting though? DH and Ds both had a few days of headache in the back of the head and upper neck/back pain, generalized fatigue. I didn't google when they were ill because I didn't want to freak myself out, but wondering if there's a virus going around causing those unusual symptoms.
J-rap
Did they check your breathing/lung capacity? It sounds very similar to my dd when she had her first onset of asthma. She did not have the typical wheezing. It was in the fall, and since then, we've learned that there is a very particular point in the fall when her asthma kicks in. She had extreme fatigue, was achey, had a dry cough, and shortness of breath. Finally, after several weeks, it got so bad that I brought her into the ER. Her oxygen level was so low, they couldn't believe she was still functioning as well as she was!
displace
Depending on your definition of fever (true fever is defined as 100.4 or higher) would give different answers. If you're feeling hot/flushed, could be thyroid, hormones. If you have a true fever could be virus, Lyme, or obscure illnesses. Sometimes autoimmune diseases can be funny. Maybe a virus that is now more local to your lungs?
OneStepAtATime
Doc listened to my heart but nothing beyond normal stethoscope listening. Breathing/lung capacity were not checked. Breathing issue is more recent and was not a problem at the time of the exam. Guess I should call and let her know. She was focusing on the fever. OneStepAtATime
With regards to the low grade fever, my normal body temp is around 97.6. I am never 98.6 on a normal day. The past two and a half weeks my temp has been constantly fluctuating between 98.8 and 101.6. I know as soon as it starts going up because I start feeling crushing fatigue, muscle aches in muscles along spine and hips, sometimes a headache at the back of my head and now shortness of breath even when sitting still. trulycrabby
I think you need to start with a chest xray to rule out pleural effusion, then have an abdominal CT.

OneStepAtATime
Pregnancy? Lyme or similar? No chance if pregnancy (cancer took that option away 6 years ago). Doc said she checked for Lyme but I don't actually trust the doctors here so...

bzymom
Another vote for chest x-ray for pleural effusion. A family member ended up in ER after weeks of similar symptoms, x-ray showed pneumonia and effusion that had clearly been going on quite awhile. If the shortness of breath has worsened, plz consider the ER I hope you find answers and relief soon!

Ottakee
Do you know anyone with asthma or oxygen that might have an oximeter (checks % of oxygen in the blood) or your peek flow (how much air you are moving). That might give you more direction. Labored breathing might need to be seen tonight.

trulycrabby
I did not know you had had cancer. You need to go to your oncologist as soon as possible. I would urge you to go to the er, as I believe this might be a medical emergency. At least if your symptoms worsen, please go to the er. You are probably still dancing with NED, but they need to do some tests to find out what is going on. :grouphug: Edited October 16, 2016 by trulycrabby
ktgrok
I'm worried you have pneumonia. Walking pneumonia can present this way. I barely coughed with mine. Or a UTI can cause the pain and fever, but the labored breathing makes me think pneumonia. If you are having labored breathing now I'd go to the ER. Laying down to sleep like this could be very very bad.
DeainUSA
How would they test for a blood clot? An ultrasound found the DVT in my calf and then a CAT Scan found the ones in my lungs. I only mention it because of the shortness of breath. That was a major sign for me, even as a obese asthmatic. The other was pain in my leg.
OneStepAtATime
Thanks for additional feedback everyone. I appreciate it. Breathing better at the moment. Sitting propped up in a recliner watching TV with DS. Hoping to make it until morning since the ER here on weekends is...less than stellar.
Ali in OR
Low fever on and off, fatigue, and shortness of breath (very obvious on stairs) were my primary symptoms when I had walking pneumonia in 2015. I had never had it and didn't know what the crackling sound was, but that was my lungs--I will recognize that if I ever have it again. It was weird to hear it but not feel any part of my body making that sound.
ktgrok
Please, go to your doctor or urgent care asap in the morning. They can do a pulse ox and an X-ray of your lungs. Demand and X-ray, for sure. And sleep in the recliner tonight please.

Lizzie in Ma
A common co-infection with Lyme is Babesia, it causes breathing issues, my dd was misdiagnosed with RAD for years before we got it figured out. I'd ask for lyme and coinfections testing.

trulycrabby
Good. Next might be gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen ultrasound and hopefully abd. CT. I had similar symptoms when my gallbladder stopped functioning/early stage of pancreatitis. Recurring fever and shortness of breath, back pain, and ascites were primary symptoms.
OneStepAtATime
Nearly passed out during all the testing so we didn't finish quite everything. DH insisted I go home to rest. I'd been at it for hours. Have to go back tomorrow. Home sitting in recliner feeling better than I did earlier. Glad he put his foot down. I was fading fast.

OneStepAtATime
UPDATE: since all the tests yesterday I now have absolutely no energy at all and no appetite. I'm doing ok with liquid. Would whole milk be a good idea? I'm hypoglycemic so trying to avoid sugar but I need to get my energy up again.
mommymonster
I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly! Try little sips of whatever sounds like it would work... if milk seems like a good idea, I'd actually try chocolate milk. They give it out at the end of marathons and what not because it's supposed to speed recovery (it has all the fat, protein and sugars you're allegedly supposed to need). When my son was feeling poorly, we also did a lot of beef or chicken bone broth (just throw broth bones into a pan with water and some aromatics and an onion and let it boil). I hope the doctors get to the bottom of this soon. Please do take care of yourself and rest!

Would whole milk be a good idea? I'm hypoglycemic so trying to avoid sugar but I need to get my energy up again. Whole Greek yogurt? TJs has a really good one. It's in a blue and white squatty tub. Lots of protein and healthy fat. I add a bit of honey for my kids, but it's still way less sugar than pre-flavored. I don't really like yogurt, and this stuff is excellent. Creamy and mild.

ktgrok
I'd do gatorade mixed half and half with water. Or they make G2, which is low sugar gatorade. Or soup.
OneStepAtATime
Ugh! Food smell is making me nauseous. Mom brought soup and I could only take 5 bites. I will try yogurt when DH brings it in (I'm out but I usually eat Greek yogurt). I do have G-2 and have been drinking that a bit. Thanks for suggestions and support. I really appreciate it! I am at a loss. Today is 3 weeks I have not felt well and it just gets worse. Grrrr...
displace
Whole milk should be fine if you test it first, just an ounce or so and wait to see if you can tolerate it. If you're ok after 15-30 min you should be able to have more. Many people can trust their stomachs to let them know if it's an ok food or not.
