Kareni
Several years ago, I started a like titled thread when I encountered this item ~ obsessive chef cutting board (no insult intended to those who might suffer from OCD). I did find this cute t-shirt recently: Chicken Crossing Shirts It's not nearly as out of the ordinary as the Small Vagina Shaped Case I found two years ago. Have you encountered any curious gift items lately? Regards, Kareni

Miss Tick
A grocery store in town has a build your own Millennium Flacon gingerbread house. ... Or what that be gingerbread ship? That's funny! I saw a store selling a gingerbread hoosegow which I thought was really unusual, but on closer inspection I realized I had misread the box and it was just a regular gingerbread house kit, written in fancy script.

sarawatsonim
Also, I have the Mr. Tea mug in this listing in pink (bought from this Etsy store) but I want the Lionel Richie "Hello is it tea you're looking for?" mug that is in this listing as well. They often sell it alone on here in a few different colours but they must be selling out fast for Christmas. They also have it in a teapot version that I am in love with.

Kareni
I've been enjoying all of your comments. Thanks for joining in. while I was looking for something for my husband I came across framed or posters of patents for various products. I could imagine that those could make great gifts for the right person. I recently saw some pages of an old Websters Dictionary affixed to a wood plaque and then with an illustration on top. (So, for example, a picture of a bee on a page that might have the word honey.) I found these and purchased one for everyone in the family to put in our christmas stockings. Practice handcuffs to learn to pick locks. http://www.makershed.com/products/practice-cuff That is nifty. It's also strangely apropos as I recently read The Lock Artist: A Novel by Steve Hamilton about a young man who can pick locks and crack safes. It was a page turning read. Target has winter themed dispensers that "poop" candy in their stocking stuffer section. Just, no. No here, too! Stacia
Kareni, you didn't know Cheerwine? I guess it's a local drink to the South? My sister used to love it (though I don't know that she drinks it now). I see it in the old glass bottle form at a local hot dog place near where my sister lives. (They have lots of old style sodas in bottles there & it's just kind of fun.)
Jean in Newcastle
Oh - you're talking about nice unique gifts! We were given out-of-date cereal once. This was from different people - who did not have financial problems. Yes, we've received a few of those types of gifts over time. One does wonder sometime at people's choices. I'm reminded (for no apparent reason) of when I worked summers at a large upscale department store that had a generous return policy. I can't tell you the number of sets of "No, we never used it" china we took back that had dried egg on them. Perhaps those people were friends of your gift givers. Dmmetler
She generally likes the "snakes in hats" as long as the hats aren't hurting the snakes (a lot of the people who do this use a dab of peanut butter, which doesn't hurt the snake) and, of course, that the snakes are alive (there's one photo of a mounted albino cobra in a straw party hat, which bugs her, both because it's a dead snake in midst alive ones, and because no one should try to dress up a venomous snake). In general, anything that humanizes snakes she sees is a good thing-which is why she draws cartoons about snakes who basically act like human pre-teens.
