TexasRachel
Thanksgiving supper looks like it'll be an hour late right now. How late was your meal? A nursing baby who's going through a growth spurt means I've stopped three times to feed him. And that's with dd holding him for awhile and my mom doing some of the sides. One year I got dinner on the table close to the time, but usually it's about an hour late.
joannqn
I'm running into the problem of a turkey that will be done...as in out of the oven and fully rested.. before one of my sides is finished.
Aurelia
Ours was actually read 15 minutes early! First year ever.
flyingiguana
A squirrel climbed up into the power lines, shorted something out, made a big boom, and our power was out for awhile. Our electric range doesn't work so well when the power is out. So we're late. And hungry. But at least we're not lying in the alley eviscerated like that squirrel. On the plus side, we chatted with a good number of our neighbors.
regentrude
We had to call our guests and beg them to come half an hour early - because the turkey was done an hour ahead of schedule. We ate at 1:30. With a teenage son, there are hardly any leftovers this year.
chepyl
Well....my cookies are ready, tart is ready, rolls are rising well, need to make a pumpkin pie....everyone should be here by 6....except our turkey....which will be arriving at 7:15....someone is always late. Last year, it was the mashed potatoes....oh well, time to heat up some cider and rotel to hold us over.
Luckymama
Stupid turkey was done 1.5 hours early. The timer thingy popped up, dh and dbil said it must be faulty, but the meat thermometer said 180...alas. Dd17 and I rushed the broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, and gravy, while dh covered the turkey with foil. All was fine :)
Farrar
About an hour after the intended time. But I wasn't the cook. :) My meals are always on time. Just kidding. Mine probably would have been way later.
2squared
We didn't have a specific plan, but we ate earlier than I thought we would. I made everything earlier in the morning, and had it all warming in crockpots for when we decided to eat. I feel like an adult today. I hosted Thanksgiving and made my first turkey. Dh hates elaborate meals, so our meal was a reasonable size.
Caroline
I managed to time it perfectly for halftime of the Redskins' game. It was totally an accident, but my men appreciated it. We had a turkey breast, caeser salad, baked potatoes, cranberry sauce, and cornbread stuffing/dressing.
Parrothead
We were good. I do wish the stuffed pumpkin had worked. I was so looking forward to it. But everything else was great. Dh got his quiet holiday. Next year I hope to host a crowd again.
Amira
I was aiming for noon, but the turkey was done at 10:45. But it didn't matter because we didn't have anyone coming over. We ate at 11:30 which was lovely because I got the dishes done even earlier and everyone was ready for pie and cheese and crackers at 6 for dinner. It has been a lovely day. Kathryn
Right on time!
CatholicMom
We ended up doing dinner just for dh & I and the kids (already had a big dinner with dh's family on Sat), so I didn't set a time. So we ate when it was done, thank goodness. I would be so nervous to tell everyone a time. I find that really hard when you're making 8 different things at once. I'm just happy if they're all still hot !
extendedforecast
I got off to a late start, but then the turkey was done early, so it was a wash. Good thing I had three girls helping me in the kitchen, or else I'd be exhausted right now.
Cosmos
We ended up eating at 4, which was just about what I was hoping for. But I can't say it was due to any sort of perfect planning. I slept in, ate a leisurely breakfast and then put the turkey in. We didn't have guests coming, so I didn't have a specific time to aim for. OrganicAnn
On time. I told everyone to come around 12:00 and we would eat at 1:00. They arrived at 12:10 and we sat down at 1:05.
Robin M
We are still on time. Turkey should be coming out about 6:30. Everything else is simmering! Yes, we eat late.
KrissiK
Ours was right on time. Because I made a time-line for the morning. And we were singing the Doxology right at 1:00. Of course "the time-line" became the running joke all day, but it saved my sanity. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
DarlaS
We ate a little after 4:30. I was aiming for 4:30 as it was just us this year, and I wanted it a bit earlier than our normal dinner, but not at lunchtime.
Susan in TN
30 minutes late, but if I was nursing s baby, I'm sure it would be more like 3 hours late!
Giraffe
Managed to be on time, somehow. Not quite sure how that happened, but glad it did!
skeeterbug
I thought this was going to be a pregnancy post. :)
1GirlTwinBoys
We were running about 45 mins late. Turkey wasn't getting done for some reason.
Laura Corin
Two days late! No holiday here for Thanksgiving, so we are celebrating on Saturday. So my weekend runs: Friday Night: my choir rehearsal for concert on Sunday Night Saturday Morning: choir rehearsal and Hobbes serves at scout coffee morning Saturday Afternoon: make and consume Thanksgiving late lunch/early dinner Saturday Evening: Calvin goes to school social; I brush the dog with half a bottle of fizzy wine in me Sunday Morning: plant a Jubilee Oak and eight lilies Sunday Afternoon: choir rehearsal Sunday Evening: choir performance. Phew! I'm making a Turducken this year for the first time: I bought it prepared and stuffed, so I just need to make more stuffing, baby potatoes and green beans in cheese sauce.
