amyco
I don't make them at home but the kind I get at our favorite fish taco joint have grilled fish, finely shredded cabbage, shredded cheddar, and finely chopped tomato. I squeeze lime juice on it and shake a few drops of Tapatio sauce on top (it's kind of like Tabasco only not as spicy). Yummmm....
Mrs Mungo
This looks yummy: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/fish-tacos-recipe/index.html Cabbage is what is usually on fish tacos instead lettuce. At least, that was true in Hawaii.
myfunnybunch
Shredded cabbage, fish, peach salsa or spicy tomato salsa, cotija cheese. I like to add a squeeze of lime, too. Cat
Moxie
Plain cabbage? I've seen pictures and I always assumed that was cole slaw.

myfunnybunch
Plain cabbage? I've seen pictures and I always assumed that was cole slaw. Sometimes plain cabbage. Sometimes we'll make it into some kind of coleslaw with either a creamy lime-sour cream concoction, or a lime-vinegar-whatever else strikes the fancy dressing, or just tossed in a little lime juice. Depends on how ambitious we're feeling. :tongue_smilie: Cat

Coffeetime
Great, now I'm hungry for fish tacos! :D I do lettuce or cabbage, avocado, cilantro, tomato, cheese, lime and I make a "fiesta mayo" with taco seasoning and mayo or sour cream. The mayo really kicks it up a notch.
FiveOaksAcademy
Cabbage, fresh cilantro, and a creamy sauce made from some combination of sour cream, mayo, or plain yogurt mixed with lime juice, salt, cumin, etc. This! I run the creamy sauce in the food processor and add avacado and cilantro to the above.

milovany
Cabbage with fresh lime juice squeezed on it, and mango salsa. YUM. I used to bread and fry my fish, but now I just sprinkle it liberally with cumin and bake it.
