Sarah CB
Poor ds (11) now has chicken pox. Ds (6) and ds (9) had it over Christmas and now my two older kids have it. Sigh. The poor kids have it way worse than the younger ones did. Ds (11) has enjoyed John Grisham's books for kids and is really interested in watching a movie with some legal drama, however, I can't seem to find anything and I'm terrible with remembering the titles of movies. Does anyone have any suggestions?
2cents
It's an oldie but I always liked 'Inherit the Wind' with Spencer Tracey. It is about the Scopes Monkey Trial.

Julie Smith
Didn't the book to kill a mocking bird get made into a movie? (I don't know if it is appropriate for a eleven year old, but it's the one that came to mind)
OrganicAnn
I remember reading some old Ellery Queen novels as a teen. I think they were dectective/courthouse novels and since they are older they tend to be cleaner less violent.
Joker
My oldest really enjoyed the Grisham books, too. She's not a boy but she's been enjoying the old Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote series.

TechWife
You have some great suggestions - 12 Angry Men and To Kill a Mockingbird are the two that came to my mind right away. She might also like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. It isn't a courtroom drama, but it does involve congress.
Sarah CB
Thanks so much, everyone! I've written these all down and we're going to start watching right away. The poor kid is miserable so it's great to have so much to keep his mind off the itching.
The Girls' Mom
We just watched the Fugitive with Harrison Ford, and the kids were all riveted. It was the TV edited version though, so I'm not 100% sure on the unedited content.
Carol in Cal.
Definitely 12 Angry Men. A great movie! She might enjoy the old Perry Mason shows, too. I'll bet you could find them on video.

Miracle on 34th Street is fun, with Kris Kringle on trial. : )
Delighted3
I used to enjoy watching "Matlock" Joy

Does anyone have any suggestions? Garrow's Law It's not a movie, but a BBC series. Love it! Maybe you can stream it on Netflix, I don't know. I think an 11 year old could handle it. Courtroom drama in 18th century London :) You might want to read the descriptions of some of the episodes before you show them depending on how you feel about different moral issues. Based loosely on the life of William Garrow.

(Of course, Mockingbird isn't as good as the book, but I do love Gregory Peck. :001_smile: ) I just watched Mockingbird with my 14yo, and I don't remember anything that would be 'inappropriate' for an 11yo. Farrar
I used to enjoy watching "Matlock"Joy Hehe. I was also thinking how I really like Murder She Wrote as a kid. Too bad all the mystery shows now are so dark. Even the lighthearted ones like Castle often have some messed up stuff in them. I seem to remember The Rainmaker wasn't bad, but don't take my word on it... I saw it so long ago.
stripe
I liked Agatha Christie movies as a kid. There have been several new Miss Marple shows. Garrow's Law is nice but a bit more advanced and scary in my opinion. I'm not sure it's kid-friendly.
Ellie
We just watched the Fugitive with Harrison Ford, and the kids were all riveted. It was the TV edited version though, so I'm not 100% sure on the unedited content. There are a couple of brief *adult* scenes in the theatrical release. J-rap
Well, the ones I was thinking of have already been said, but...
