You and I are very much alike!! I do like the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol, though. The Muppet's version is my favorite. I also like Jingle All the Way and A Christmas Story. Last year my youngest son got his Red Rider BB gun, so A Christmas Story was watched no less than 10,000 times.

We start the Christmas season with the new Miracle on 34th street after Thanksgiving dinner, because my kids like it. I prefer the old one.

We also watch:

Frosty the Snowman

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The Santa Clause (1 and 2)

The Polar Express

Elf

White Christmas

It's a Wonderful Life

Meet Me in St. Louis

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Home Alone

And every Christmas Eve we watch Muppets Christmas Carol.

These are movies I watch around Christmas. My family thinks I'm stretching things by calling them Christmas movies:

While You Were Sleeping

Desk Set

The Lake House

I love watching Christmas themed movies with hot chocolate and a fire. :-)

For me, it's just wrong if I don't watch Its A Wonderful Life. I have other movies I enjoy, (Miracle on 34th, the orig, Charlie Brown, Grinch (NOT the Jim Carrey carp), Christmas Story, Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, The Santa Clause, and some version of A Christmas Carol) but if I don't see IAWL, its just NOT right.

Wolf swears 'Die Hard' is a Christmas movie. :glare: Yeah, cause gunfire, explosions, etc are so 'peace on earth, good will to man' stuff.

I always think of Lord of the Rings as "Christmas" movies. ;) And there are always Christmas scenes in Harry Potter, Father Christmas in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe... Little Women (90s version with Winona Ryder and Christian Bale) is a fun family one with Christmas scenes...

And I love watching Love Actually with my mom around Christmas. Even if I only get to watch as far as the first scene, with Bill Nighy singing, "I feeeeel it in my fangers! I feeel it in mah tooooooooes!" Although it's worth hanging around for the First Lobster as well. ;)

While we are decorating the tree, we watch "Elf" and have hot chocolate. We started this tradition a few years ago.

Also, on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, we watch the MST3K episodes entitled "Santa Claus" and "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians".

This year, I'm thinking we will do a "Lord of the Rings" marathon over Christmas break, and invite a few friends over.

It's a Wonderful Life and the original Miracle on 34th Street are my sentimental favorites.

Me too! And it's not Christmas at our house until we've watched The Christmas List. I also love Borrowed Hearts, and EK and I always enjoy the Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel and the Lifetime channels.

Please don't feel you have to share just Christmas movies. I start my holidays during Thanksgiving. Any movies that you LOVE are perfect for the holidays.

Well, movies I watch over and over... That just make me *happy* include...

Shooting Fish

Bride and Prejudice (yes, *B*)

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Cold Comfort Farm

Love Actually - not for kids though.

Laura

Also my favorite Christmas movie, though it always makes me cry.

I also love The Snowman, and Mr Bean's Christmas, and A Child's Christmas in Wales. I like the Sherlock Holmes The Blue Carbuncle with Jeremy Brett. Blackadder's Christmas Carol. Any Dr Who Christmas special. Bernard and the Genie.

It's a bit weird looking at that list - it's all British tv.:001_huh:

For the family, Elf - "He's an angry elf!"

We do give pop movie quote quizzes in our family

For the parents, Love Actually. No other movie portrays the various facets of love so well. Makes me laugh and cry and curse all the American attempts at capturing it's magic (Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve... I'm talking about you)

Christmas movies:

It's a Wonderful Life (which we watch on Thanksgiving, in the evening)

Elf

The Homecoming (Waltons)

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Scrooged

A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott; I've watched all the others, and he wins)

A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart; not as good as George, but Patrick's accent is better  ; the guy who plays Bob Cratchett creeps me out)

Santa Claus (with John Lithgow and Dudley Moore)

Miracle on 34th Street (only the original)

White Christmas (which is really on *barely* Christmas, but you can't beat the last scene, with the beautiful red dresses and the big Christmas tree)

Claymation Christmas

Jack Frost

Polar Express

Christmas With the Kranks

A Christmas Story

And unlikely Christmas movies:

About a Boy

Better Off Dead

While You Were Sleeping

Princess Bride

Three Days of the Condor

Bourne Identity

Die Hard

:D
