Parrothead
The commercial was for Hershey's new candy bar - Air Delight. They've pumped it full of air bubbles. Essentially now we get to pay for air in our candy and it is cool to do so.

MominIN
I always thought that about the whipped yogurt. You're just getting less yogurt ... and lots of air!! :001_smile:

Xuzi
You can get Aero bars at Cost Plus World Market here. LOOOOOVE them (even if, yes, they look like chocolate bone marrow. ) The mint is my favorite.
laundrycrisis
Reminds me of the ChocoLite bar from the 1970s: http://www.inthe70s.com/food/chocolitecandybar0.shtml I think I must have had an Aero when I visited Ireland - I remember thinking wow this is like the old ChocoLites and I can't get this at home.... I like the bubbles because of how quickly the chocolate seems to melt in my mouth !

Belacqua
I'm not a fan of Aero, but I certainly wouldn't mind a US version of Coffee Crisp. Canadian cashiers always laugh at me when I buy six bottles of Radox bubble bath and piles of Coffee Crisp and Mac toffee.

unsinkable
That's what I was thinking. (Wonder if the States has Aero?) yes, those of us who can see Canada from our hockey rinks can. I love aero bars.
laundrycrisis
Ds11 said the same thing! I felt so proud that he recognized the marketing scheme for its foolishness that it is. It depends on how you look at it. My experience with these is that the texture of the chocolate is very much changed. I would be happy to pay more per oz of chocolate to experience that light melty texture. When I buy one (and I will !), I won't feel tricked. :D
TrixieB
Reminds me of the ChocoLite bar from the 1970s: http://www.inthe70s.com/food/chocolitecandybar0.shtml I had totally forgotten about this candy bar! Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane :). I will have to try one of the new Hershey bars to see if it tastes like ChocoLite -- or what I remember ChocoLite tasting like, anyway! Impish
There are no Coffee Crisps?! You poor deprived things. No 'real' Smarties either. Two other candies I can think of that are made by changing the texture of sugar are sponge candy and cotton candy. Sure, I could just pour sugar in my mouth but it wouldn't be the same as cotton candy or sponge candy!
chiguirre
My dd loves the new Air Delight bar and the air delight kisses and I have to agree. The bubbles give it a wonderful mouth feel. Of course, Choco-lite was one of my favorites back in the 70s too. If you'll feel ripped off, skip it. If you don't mind paying a bit more for a treat, give it a try! They're delish! PeacefulChaos
Funny story about that... we were in NYC and a friend of mine bought some of that stuff at the Hershey's store. When they opened it and tried it, they were like, 'What the heck??? This stuff sucks!' It was quite humorous. I was like, what did you think it was going to be??? o.O

ElizaG
I was under the impression that Aero bars weighed the same as plain chocolate bars -- they were just puffier. But maybe I'm misremembering. WishboneDawn
It's not a marketing scheme. It's like Aero but also Mirage (which I prefer). I can't believe how deprived you Americans are!
