Night Elf
We're ordering food from a restaurant and picking up curb side. Am I supposed to tip?

frogger
I think tradition states yes but not 15-20% like you would at a sit-down but it used to be 10% . I have been tipping the full amount though because the extra work in attempting contactless and servers are losing hours.

YaelAldrich
I didn't or if I did, a token amount. Now 10-15%.

stephanier.1765
My rule of thumb is if I would normally tip for service then I tip for curbside delivery as well. As other have said, not as much. I agree with the 10 to 15%.
Loowit
Normally I would tip 15%. Right now I tip 20% because I want to support business/workers right now when I can. Most restaurants around here are still only doing curbside or delivery, so the workers are losing out on a lot of money.
Night Elf
Thanks everyone. I will tip my usual 20%.
Terabith
We've been doing 20% because restaurants are struggling so much right now.
AmandaVT
I've been doing 20% anytime I get food now. I figure if people are going out of their way to possibly compromise their safety so I can get take out, I should tip like I was having a sit down dinner.
Tanaqui
Yeah, for sure, especially *now*.
J-rap
We've been tipping our usual 20% even for pick-ups (whereas before we wouldn't have), because restaurants are having such a tough time.
Katy
For Covid, yes.
Tree Frog
We've been tipping about 20% or more depending on how often we frequent the restaurant. Neither of us lost our jobs, so we try to be generous when we can.
teachermom2834
Yes. The people working curbside are,at least sometimes, servers who were put on curbside instead of the floor. So a server that got stuck on curbside world hardly make anything all night if people didn’t tip. My son’s girlfriend worked at Chili’s and they kept putting her on curbside because she was so good at it but she was so frustrated because she was making nothing compared to the good tips she made on the floor. My normal is 15% for curbside but during COVID, I've gone up to 20-25% and will probably stay there, now that I know how much work they do for carry out/curbside. EKS
I've been tipping 20-25% for take out.
Terabith
I wish there was some definitive list somewhere of when/ who we are supposed to tip. I had no idea for years that I was supposed to leave money in hotel rooms for housekeeping. I’m mortified I didn’t know. But it’s so frustrating.
