mom@shiloh
My ds is on the 9th day. I've heard there's a strain going around that can last 7-10 days. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Momto6inIN
We didn't go to the Dr because we weren't too bad and our insurance doesn't cover Tamiflu or other Rx's so I don't know for sure that ours is the "official influenza" or not. But we've got low grade fevers, sore throat, coughing, congestion, etc. And yes, I've had it a full week and am not over it yet.
Zoo Keeper
Yes, there is a 10 day flu going around. Come to my house. ;(
purpleowl
My sister was down with flu for about that long, over Christmas.
catz
I’ve been down with the real flu for that long. It’s the worst.
Selkie
I've had the flu twice and both times it was 10-14 days of being very sick, and then another couple weeks to really start feeling like myself again. And I am someone who rarely gets sick and usually bounces right back.
Heatherwith4
A couple of my kids had the flu for that long last year. It was horrible. 😞
....
It has symptoms that go on for a long time. We caught it a couple of days after Christmas and some of us are still coughing, vomiting from coughing, etc. We're in North Texas and they said it is really going around here. When we go out, we can hear other people with that same stupid cough at the store. It seems like everyone has it. And my kid who had the flu shot had the worst symptoms of everyone. It was so bad one morning, that we got scared and put her in the car in her pajamas and drove her to urgent care. Tamiflu helped a ton. She went from not being able to walk to playing Mariocart with ds3 the next morning. And the flu shot was worthless this time. I hope all of you feel better soon! Lady Florida.
The last time we all got the flu it lasted nearly 2 weeks. It's not uncommon. Tamiflu and other like medications weren't available then (or maybe weren't covered) so we just had to deal with it. That was the year we decided to never skip our flu shots again. Until then we just got it some years when we remembered to.
Mothersweets
Everyone had it at my house over Christmas and New Year's. We all had our flu shots, too! The coughing was the worst part - it has taken a couple weeks for it to go away. We're in AZ and it seems almost everyone has had it. I know the vaccine isn't perfect but none of us has been that sick since we consistently started getting the flu shot (knock on wood).
SKL
I think I had it during my vacation. Not fun.
Katy
yep, it reoccurred after Tamiflu for everyone here.
PeterPan
Oh dear, my ds has a bug and when I took him in the ped said 7. He didn't tell me it could be 7-10. Oh my. I accidentally drank out of his glass, so now I'm hoping I don't get it too!
bethben
My ds had a fever for about 6 days. He is now hacking and coughing but no fever. For us, fevers usually last less than 24 hours so this was a big deal in our house.
HollyDay
Not the flu, but I got a coughing virus the week before CHristmas. I'm still dragging. The cough is 99% better, but I'm still tired and have upper respiratory. The doc told me it could last 6 weeks.....
