BlsdMama
Exactly that! We have more fun with stockings than we do with gifts at our house. This year, because the grown up kiddos are going with cash, the stocking is all the gifting I am doing! :) So, ideas! ETA - The Rules:Gifts can vary from $0-$10ish Gift must fit into a stocking. You MAY say giftcard, but, please, be specific. What are fun and inexpensive gift cards? For example, DS specifically told me a cute little cupcake shop that his gf loves. I loved the idea - super specific and little. <3 Edited December 11, 2017 by BlsdMama

JFSinIL
Depends on the interests of the kid/young adult, but I tend to always include: .new battery-powered toothbrush .Ghiradelli peppermint bark bar .Swedish fish .fuzzy socks (girls) .tree ornament tied to their interest - my 26-year-old gets My Little Pony ones since he is a Brony! his twin with autism gets Star Wars or Simpson characters, etc. this year the two girls are getting those small alarms you keep on your key chain, and since they moved out, R2D2 screwdriver things from Think Geek (on sale when I got them) Some years I get a LOT of stuff from Think Geek and/or Hot Topic, but not so much this year. Pez candy if you see a character they like is fun, too. Or little Hot Wheel/Matchbox items. Silly Putty used to be a standard, too. Oh, and always a foil-wrapped chocolate Santa! College kids could probably use more Command strips to hang posters. Once I got a kid one of those little hammers that you can unscrew the handle and find assort screwdrivers, too. At check-out at the local small hardware store. And - themed duct tape! Every adult kid can use duct tape and now it comes in all sorts of patterns/designs. But I wouldn't give it to a young kid unless you want to see the cat or a sibling in bondage ;-) Edited December 11, 2017 by JFSinIL
marbel
Chapstick Pens Earbuds Chocolate For gift card - do you have a gas station/convenience store chain with prepared food, coffee, and such? We have Wawa here. I've also been to or heard of Sheetz, Speedway, Royal Farms and QuikTrip; no doubt there are others. My kids (and I!) love a Wawa gift card in the stocking. To me it's better than Starbucks even though both are convenient (more for one's $$ and more variety at Wawa). I give one to our mail carrier as well.
