Janeway
He is getting a bike and a food processor this year. I have no idea how I will keep the bike hidden.
barnwife
He is getting a bike and a food processor this year. I have no idea how I will keep the bike hidden. Hide it at a neighbor's house. As for what I am getting DH, isn't the baby due days after Christmas enough? (IOW, I have no idea yet.)
2ndGenHomeschooler
One year I got my DH a certificate for sky diving. He broke his knee at work and it refused to heal for over 9 months so he never went. The next year I got him a groupon for a race car driving experience. He cut the tips off a couple of fingers two days before he was scheduled to do it and had to reschedule for 6 months later. I told him that if he hurt himself again before the rescheduled date he'd be getting socks and underwear for Christmas from here on out. :-P Fortunately, he managed to keep himself in one piece and enjoyed the race car driving experience (a childhood dream) immensely. I'm not sure what I'll get him this year.
Junie
So far, I'm planning to get dh K-cups to take to work to use in the office Keurig machine. That's all I've got. He got new dress shoes for his birthday. I'm out of ideas.
JustEm
In the past I've given him boardgames and books that he's wanted I picked them out myaelf. dd always gets him a notebook to use for writing his yearly murder mystery dinner game in. This year I may surprise him with some time and cash to get then 2nd part of his tattoo worked on. It's weird thinking I'll just give dh cash but we really can't afford for him to get it all done at once so he saves up his spending g money for it. I've got a bunch of my fun money saved up so I think I'll use it on him. Edited October 23, 2016 by hjffkj
LifeLovePassion
My cousin found a desk plaque that instead of her hubby's name says "I'm kind of a big deal" lol
Slache
I should play too, since I started the thread. Past success: FIL-Chromebook, schmancy booze, nice slippers Dad-Pajama pants, theracane, kindle Hubby-Sports crap, food from home town, kindle, kayak Hubby wants a nice robe, pjs and slipper set, and celestial binoculars.
Caroline
I'm getting my dad a Yeti water bottle and a bucket hat from Georgia Tech, where my son is a student. DH is getting a new hot water heater.
StephanieZ
Fun idea: 12 nights of SexMas. 12 nights, 12 presents. Makes the post-Christmas let-down much less of a let-down. ;) BBQ tools are good. Or a new BBQ. Dh has a hobby -- salt water aquaria. Last year, he gave me a wish list, and I just ordered everything on it. :)
jjeepa
No idea what I'm getting my dh this year, but here are some past successes - massage, large tool organizer, bottle of really nice scotch, laptop case, clothes because he never, ever, ever shops for himself, and books. UCF612
Best gift in the past was a bike. He was totally surprised and actually showed a reaction to a gift which is very unusual for him! I'd like to get him a new grill this year but I'm not sure I'll have enough money. He's difficult to buy for and his birthday is a week before Christmas...argh. Plink
Last year's big hit for DH was a coffee roaster and green beans from Sweet Maria's This year I'm thinking of upgrading his camping equipment since he is planning on doing the overnight CSM this winter. The new sleeping bags and gear are so much smaller and lighter than what we grew up with.

Same with my dh - birthday days before Christmas. I think I will look at DNA test kits for ancestry research. I don't think he will expect it.

heartlikealion
For Father's Day I got him a new GPS mount. I think it went over pretty well. I'm going to put it on my wish list. I need a new one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CRQUKQ4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm not sure what I'm getting my dad for Christmas. He likes practical things and doesn't care much for clothing. Basically anytime I see a gadget that I think he would use that goes on my list of ideas. We got him the Amazon Fire stick one year. A portable charger for when he's out and about (you know the kind that you charge at home but then don't need to plug in when you're out). I also tend to get him books. He reads a lot, mostly about health. It's just hard to pick out titles sometimes. Dh and I said we wouldn't exchange gifts, but he could really use some more long ties. One or two years ago his mom got a tie from Amazon and it's the only one that we've found to be 65" so I'll suggest it to anyone needing shopping help for him. He also likes scarves for the winter. He sometimes walks to work. Edited October 23, 2016 by heartlikealion
brett_ashley
My husband loved his mail order Chicago pizzas last year.
mamiof5
Dh is hard to gift, he really doesn't need or want anything. I always get him t-shirts, got him a cardinals T-shirt which he'll like. I always get nuts, pumpkin seeds and beef jerky. And yes, another dh with bday right before Christmas 😰. What he really wants is an F150, and I can't afford that :(
Storygirl
Argh!! DH's birthday is two weeks before Christmas as well!!! And he never has ideas about what he wants. Which means his mother and siblings hit ME up for ideas for what they should get him. :toetap05: I'm going to go back to the beginning of this thread and mine it for ideas. Because right now, I've got nothin'. Edited October 23, 2016 by Storygirl
kitten18
Nothing, he's impossible to buy for. I'm sick of trying to come up with ideas for someone who never wants anything. Blah. I'm a party pooper. 😠
G5052
DH is also retiring at the end of December. So he's getting a nice watch. For his fall birthday he got an "Old Guys Rule" hat that he loves and wears out when he's doing errands and a fuzzy lap robe that he uses almost every day when he watches TV. Guest
Nothing, he's impossible to buy for. I'm sick of trying to come up with ideas for someone who never wants anything. Blah. I'm a party pooper. 😠No, HE is a party pooper! Mine is always simultaneously ambivalent about gift-getting in the general sense AND let down by whatever he gets, even if he asked for it. That said, I've had a few surprise hits in the past.... a slimfold wallet. He was super jazzed about that. "The thinnest wallet on the planet." [fancy hipster, or old school/ old dudes] barbershop gift certificate Base layers This year (shh!) I think I'll get him ether a gift cert for a float tank or a smoker. *I* want the smoker...so....
regentrude
I am thinking some friends. No, not people, but climbing equipment. J-rap
My dh doesn't like the idea of presents. It took me quite awhile to get used to that! It's just a strong anti-materialism stance in him that I can't change. He does respect that I actually enjoy giving gifts, so we've kept up the tradition for our kids, etc. But our kids know by now to handle him a little differently: write him a song, give a $ gift to charity, etc. I pretty much just give him a book now, because he loves to read and he feels okay about that. I do enjoy picking out books! So that works. My father is difficult because he is quite elderly (though still very active) and also has never been into "things." Sometimes my siblings and I will go in on something -- tickets to a show, air tickets for a trip, etc. He also loves to read so I'll sometimes get him a book or a magazine subscription. He also likes interesting plants.
AmandaVT
I usually get DH a couple of dress shirts and a new pair of pants for work. Last year, I managed to secretly upgrade his phone and he opened his new phone on Christmas morning. I surprised him and he was thrilled. 2 years ago, I got him a new Xbox which he really liked. I have no idea what to get him this year. I love to find my dad books. I frequently make a basket for him - book, bottle of wine, good cheese, etc.
StephanieZ
A couple times, I've ordered a case of wine from dh's favorite tiny Oregon winery. Big hit!
Plink
Oh, I forgot to include my Dad - his biggest hit was years ago when we picked up a Force Trainer for him. He is a huge StarWars fan, and had a blast challenging all of the kids to see who could control the ball for longest. This year I'm a bit stumped. I may pick up this hat and pre-pay his fishing license for the year, but that feels a bit like a non-gift since he always gets a license anyway. Still thinking
wapiti
Another one with a birthday not long before Christmas. I have to get past the birthday first before I can even think of Christmas, and it's the big 50. All I have so far is a shirt from Costco (not even the one he wanted because they don't sell it anymore) and a 23andme test kit for health (I noticed that if I put one in my shopping cart and wait a few weeks, I get a sale price). Maybe a running shirt. I am so lame. I think the perfect gift for him would be tickets to something like Hamilton but that won't be here until next season and there's no guarantee I could even get them.
