Melinda S in TX
It has been fifteen months since we found out Hannah had cancer. Yesterday she had her three months off chemo scan, and the results were NED (no evidence of disease). Hannah is in remission! She is doing well. Below are the details I posted on her CaringBridge page. The big thing is Hannah has no evidence of disease. To quote the ct report, "No CT findings to indicate residual, recurrent or metastatic disease." Now, the details. Hannah had a great time at clinic today, seeing all of her friends again. She has gained two pounds in the last month. Her hemoglobin looks great, but her white blood cells are not. They are ok, but not as high as they should be. Doctor thinks Hannah's bone marrow is tired from the chemo and is taking longer to bounce back. Right kidney is mildly dilated, but stable. This is due to radiation damage to the ureter. The thickening of Hannah's bowel (where it passes over the bladder, directly in the radiation path) is gone. The doctors prefer to wait a while to take out ports, so we will discuss that summer 2013. As far as Hannah's tummy troubles, she is already in physical therapy, and there is medication. You have to take the medication every day and the side effects are grogginess and sleepiness. To take a medicine every day and not be all the way present in your life for something that only happens occasionally, seems overkill. As long as it doesn't get worse, Hannah wants to not take medication and just take care of the problem if/when it happens. Hannah's legs (from knee to ankle) are weak, her hamstrings are tight, and she has no leg reflexes. This is caused by the chemo drug, Vincristine, and we don't know if this will be permanent. The clinic social worker, Serena, is talking to insurance about getting Hannah a bigger stroller. Right now, we have a regular umbrella stroller and it's meant for babies, not seven year olds. We're hoping and praying for full strength to return to Hannah's legs, but right now she can't take a trip to the grocery store without her legs wearing out and hurting. She needs a bigger stroller. We will continue physical therapy and exercises at home. Pray for Hannah's legs and that insurance will help with whatever Hannah needs to return to full strength. Next clinic visit is in one month. Physical therapy is on Friday. Belly work and trying to figure out Hannah's legs.

Mommyof4ks
Wonderful news!!!! Prayers for Hannah's legs and other effects from chemo. My son has lingering effects from vincristine too, but now it is just his feet, bur his legs are doing great. He can climb now, it took two years of being off chemo, but we finally reached that goal. itsheresomewhere
How much does Hannah weigh? Until insurance approves the stroller, look at the keekaroo umbrella strollers. It has a higher weight limit and is made for bigger kids. It is very popular with the SN families and quite a few buy one while waiting the insurance game. Glad to hear she is doing well. Isabella
 I'm so glad to hear your good news. I often think of Hannah, and hope she's doing alright. Please look into Bowen Therapy for Hannah's legs. This page contains a list of practioners in the different states. It may need ongoing Therapy for a few months, but I'm certain you'll see an improvement. Continuing good health wishes for Hannah, and healing wishes for the whole family!:grouphug:
swellmomma
 Praise the Lord for the cancer being in remission. Prayers for her to regain leg strength so that she can keep you running all day long! Is there a particular model of stroller you are hoping to get for her that would fit her better?
