For my 10 (will be 11 next month!) yo ds, and 13 yo dd:

Trisms History Makers (with simplified questionnaire for ds)

Math-U-See (ds)

Customized math curriculum for dd, using Maximum Math for a guide , Family Math and other activity type books, living books, and Strayer-Upton textbooks for word problems. My goal this year is to fill in the gaps, and make sure we didn't miss anything before moving on to Algebra. She had a rough start in math, and is a very auditory learner, so she does better with me teaching her one-on-one, rather than doing workbooks.

Life science using a Globe life science textbook as a framework, and adding in notebooking, lots of good books, projects, and fun stuff.

IEW for writing

Climbing to Good English for grammar

Art- using Phonics of Drawing, and Usborne Art Story of Art and Discovering Great Artists (following along with TRISMS)

Latin- finishing up Getting Started with Latin, and then they will begin Linney's Latin Class

Literature- reading list from Ambleside pre-7

Music- not sure yet- any suggestions?

Logic- again, not sure, will probably go with Orbiting with Logic or something along those lines

:001_smile:

For this coming year which starts in mid August-- who knows? Can you guess I am frustrated? I am in a holding pattern as goes to my plans since I don't know what each girl will take in Homeschool Academy, I don't know if I will be teaching in Co-op, I don't know if younger dd is getting her first, second or no choice in her co-op classes, I don't know because of the above if older dd will be taking anything at the CC and if so, what.

I do know that both girls will be continueing with Life of Fred.

History: VP

Bible: VP

Spelling: Phonetic Zoo

Grammar: Shurley English

Literature: VP

Writing: IEW

Latin: Latin for Children

There's been a couple of changes: one being about Latin, which I wrote about here http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/creativeplay/563797/. We're going to go ahead and finish MFW Adventures (US History). There's 12 weeks left of it, but we'll get it done in half the time before starting ECC.

The rest looks like this:

Adventures (US History, states study), then Exploring Countries and Cultures (geography, missionary biographies, countries, etc), done mostly in English except where noted :D

English language arts:

Complete MFW1 phonics

Complete Hooked on Phonics through level 5

(Then start) Spelling by Sound and Structure- by R&S and

maybe PLL- 2nd grade section

Whatever is included within the MFW curriculum (narrations, copywork, etc. once phonics work is complete)

Phonics Pathways

Bible -will be done in English this year with MFW. I'm so used to these scriptures, it's been a difficult switch for me to do it in Spanish. She reads her Bible in Spanish though.

Spanish Language arts:

Classical Writing with Spanish models (using a 3rd grade Spanish grammar and adapting to CW and PLL below)

PLL, 3rd grade section- adapted in Spanish, still writing this up

Vocabulary- from ECC, will do the same words in English

Spelling- Practica Ortografica, in the style of Spelling Power

Reading- still figuring this out. Also want to purchase a grip of books from R&S that caught my eye :tongue_smilie:. They would go along with ECC and can be placed in book basket

Math- Mundo Matematico 3

Science- ECC, habitats. May add more depending on interest and time. Done in both languages

Foreign language- Japanese. I'm taking a college course and she's in for the ride :). We also have Pimsleur, Tell Me and Tell Me More Japanese. I have a kana workbook for me that I've copies for her to practice too. I have software I'm remembering: Rosetta demo, Passport to language (35 languages on it), Instant Immersion Japanese, Exotic Japan, Before You Know It (free download), and Free Light Japanese. We also want to do German, but I don't think we'll have time :001_huh:.

She'll have dance starting in September, and we're considering karate, piano, and 4H. She obviously won't be doing it all, or doing 3 dance styles like last year either.

I'll be staggering the start dates for the subjects some kind of way. It should be fun.

Well, gotta finish writing curriculum!

I'd like to get into Prima Latina as well, and round this out with some other topics, such as history and geography, but this is just to start! We'll also be doing nature study and composer study. I had a friend offer me SOTW, so I'm waiting to see if I get it from her.

But as he is only 5 1/2, and would technically begin K this year (his b'day is in December, and I'm planning for 1st grade since we did K work for 2007-2008), I think I've already got quite a bit on his plate!
