I don't have a favorite version. I've had enough exposure to Silent Night - in german, that it is becoming a favorite. preferably a simple solo - in german - to a guitar. I'm working on learning it fully through in german. dh wants to go back to Austria. Sounds good if we can do Obendorf at Christmas. Youtube has some choral versions that are just gorgeous. I also love the Huron Carol (also called Twas in the Moon of Wintertime), a Canadian Christmas carol which Bruce Cockburn put on my radar. In terms of secular songs, without a doubt I would choose Walking in the Air from Raymond Brigg's animated version of The Snowman. It's listed under Advent in the hymnal and we stop singing it at Christmas :lol:. For secular: Fairytale of NY, Baby Please Come Home and Grownup Christmas List (makes me teary-eyed).
