  1. If she's coming from a 3 year relationship and has only been single a week - I would encourage her to hang out as friends for a bit. Not to rush into dating (even though it may look the same).
  2. Me: my 4-year degree was forgiven with 4 years of work in the field after graduation. So me = free. DH: 4 years at a private college (seminary type). He maxed out loans for 4 years undergrad and 1 year post grad. We are still paying it off (almost 20 years later). Our kids: I have no clue. Highly unlikely to qualify for academic scholarships. Very little savings. We'll probably do 2 years living at home and going to CC.
  3. That's the main thing I see missing. (But you said she does have a booklist.) If she's finishing daily work too quickly, maybe expect output from her reading (informal book responses, journal entries, etc). Maybe art and foreign language? (Even simple like Duolingo.) My 7th grader has a lighter load. She regularly does history (with her sister), TT7, CLE Reading 7 + booklist, Essentials in Writing, and science (textbook, on her own). Less regularly: cursive, spelling, art. Weekly: outsourced PE.
  4. I buy the Pore Reducing Toner and the Skin Calming Toner from Paula's Choice. I also buy the Clear 2%. With my last order I got samples of the Unscrub (wash) and I really liked it...but I already like my current wash (which is cheaper) so I won't switch. I also bought a travel size of the Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer (which is new) and really liked it, but it felt close enough to my trusty CeraVe PM that I'll resist the temptation of switching...
  5. Mine is still hip-deep in the Warriors and Wings of Fire series. Occasionally, she accepts my suggestions (recently Inkheart series, Holes, Wonder, The Graveyard Book, Watership Down, Redwall, etc) and enjoys them...but she needs a nudge to do so.
  6. I prefer dark roast coffee now, with waaay less cream and sugar. When I was little, I wouldn't eat onions or peppers. Now I like them...as long as it's before my cut-off time (i.e. Can't eat too much at dinner because it'll ruin my old stomach).
  7. I'd totally cut up trash bags to make a tarp and strap that big boy to the top of my car! You can do it!
  8. I currently have a wooden mission style headboard and it looks nice, but it's not comfy to lean against. If I were ever to upgrade my bed to king size, I'd go with something like this instead:
  9. Wow. What a loser. I hope he gets what he deserves. And I hope you get what you're owed...and then some for your troubles!
  10. Oh, I just remembered... When I was in 10th grade, my boyfriend dumped me in an unexpected and unpleasant way. So I took the ring he gave me for Christmas to a pawn shop. I got 14 bucks and bought a pair of sandals, which lasted longer than the relationship. I loved those sandals.
  11. I've never shopped at a pawn shop (though I love thrift stores). DH bought my engagement ring at a pawn shop, though!
  12. A carved, circular wooden thing DH brought back from Indonesia (20+ years ago). We joke that it's probably a fertility symbol so maybe we should hang it elsewhere. I think it's actually a serving tray...
  13. I'd never heard of Isn't it Romantic. Looks cute! Youngest DD and I are home alone and Redboxing through this rainy weekend. So far: The Grinch and Goosebumps 2. My girls cannot wait to see How to Train Your Dragon 3. They are huuuuge fans of the series.
  14. Nor I but apparently it's certain translations of 1 Cor. 7:36. It's never been a phrase/idea taught my faith. https://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/7-36.htm
  15. So did Anna Faris: https://www.google.com/amp/s/people.com/movies/anna-faris-deeply-thankful-her-former-chihuahua-has-been-rescued/amp/
  16. When DH and I were dating, we brought some steak dinner leftovers home for his dog. The dog choked on a hunk of meat and passed right out on his side. DH pumped on the dog's chest a bit until it dislodged whatever it was. The dog stood up and started sniffing around for the (already eaten) steak. It scared the bejeezus out of dh! As far as the poll: I don't think it's common knowledge UNLESS you are familiar with rescues or have been looking into adopting a pet. It's always been made very clear to us from rescues we've had contact with.
  17. The same for me. Bad childhood experiences but a decent dentist now...though I still get anxious. Hope you find some relief and it's easily resolved.
  18. I hear you. I had a filling done in a molar last Monday, and the tooth has been hurting ever since. (Sharp stabby pain.) We've been "waiting and seeing" but I have a feeling that it's going to be a re-do. Boo! (I have major dental anxiety, too, so I didn't want to go in the first place. Going back 2-3x to fix this has got me in knots!)
  19. The set really helped my 5th grader who somehow forgot all her math facts over the summer. We needed something to help her her back on track and help with confidence. Oldest DD used Mastering Essential Math Skills but this DD really needed things broke down a bit more. The beginning of the program really helped review and soldify her math facts. She liked the way the lesson was written - very conversational. We only went through book 1, though, returning to our previous program (she was just ready).
  20. We'll be out of house for most of the day, so I made mini molten lava cakes and chocolate covered strawberries tonight and put them in the fridge for dinner tomorrow. And I'll put a roast in the crockpot before we leave in the morning. That should give me a nice dinner with minimal V-Day effort.
  21. The female gymnasts (that I've seen on tv) totally have cheeky suits (intentional or not, idk). Which is interesting because many of them are quite young. The part about small suits = being able to see the body's lines and such...that doesn't ring true to me. You could wear form fitting leggings and still see leg placement and angles and such.
  22. Do you have a decent hospital system nearby? When DH had cancer, our deductible was $10k a year (x4 years treatment). The hospital he received treatment had a financial aid (aka charity care) program that we qualified for, which covered that portion. Perhaps something like that is available if you can see a hospital based gastro?
  23. I've seen where people place panty hose on the end of a vacuum and try to suck it up. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.apartmenttherapy.com/vacuum-pantyhose-trick-find-lost-small-object-256465
  24. I try to update the original planning threads, but here are some major things that I changed this year: instead of Notgrass AtB, we're using AGS United States History Mr. D Pre-Alg was dropped for TT7 Apologia General swapped for Glencoe Science 7
  25. IDK but do consider the seasons. Maybe a mix of trees, where you have some green while some are flowering, would look more natural (than a wall of evergreens). But you'll definitely want something that keeps its leaves in the winter! We have zero privacy in the winter, though we can barely see our rear neighbors in the spring - fall.
