periwinkle
Other is Jacobs, although we have also used and recommend Lial.

langfam
Used Saxon with 2 dc, Jacob's with another. Now using Chalkdust which is the winner at our house because of Dana Mosely!
dirty ethel rackham
We use Singapore NEM for algebra. Their program is not broken out by the american traditional scope, but incorporates all the dimensions of high school math (algebra, geometry, trig, etc.) throughout the curriculum. Sunshine State Sue
Well, we are using MUS and Life of Fred this year. Next year, we'll probably use Foerster's.
Krista in LA
Another Jacobs user here.
Jenny in Florida
http://www.ucopenaccess.org/ It's free. It has its flaws and occasional glitches and mistakes, but we're finding it very workable for my son. And, in fact, there are things I now understand after working through this with my son that neither my own school experience nor helping my daughter through algebra ever made click for me. KAR120C
We did the Algebra chapters of NEM 1 and 2 as a block to count as "Algebra 1". Next year we'll do the Geometry chapters and count it as "Geometry". It's not exactly the same as US scope and sequence, but it's close. mellifera
We use Jacobs here. Ds#1 likes it and it seems fairly thorough.

Blue Hen
Dolciani! BTW, I'm taking my DS#2 through her Pre-Algebra, An Accelerated Course book and we are both loving it. Well, HE would NOT say he is loving it but he is so understanding the material. Only 2 chapters left in the book before we switch over to NEM 1 or maybe we'll go into Dolciani's Algebra 1 book. Blue Hen
We use NEM alongside Dolciani''s texts. Carole
Moni
Saxon......for all the reasons people "don't like" it. ;) They will list a negative about Saxon, and I think that's a positive  :seeya:
Miss Marple
We're using 3 different programs for 3 different kids (actually used 4 programs - a different one with my oldest). Jacobs Lial's Life of Fred NEM (Singapore) They are all good and fill special needs for each student.
Tap
TT and ds's scores on assesment tests have been great, always above the 90th percentile, and he loves it, so it is a keeper for us.
Michelle in GA
I use two different programs--one for each dc. Saxon Algebra II for my ds;Chalkdust Algebra I for my dd. Too bad you can't vote for two:)
Pamela H in Texas
You didn't make it where we can pick more than one. DD used Dolciani then Lials (we do 2 programs). Well, but she also did LoF for Geo, Adv Alg, Trig, and Calc DS used Dolciani, now we're going to use Systematic Mathematics.

Sharon in MD
We used Jacobs for AL I and Geometry then Foerster for AL II
Catherine
I don't have a strong preference for either. I also supplemented Algebra with Gelfand's.
Kareni
My senior used Lial's for Algebra I and II (Jacobs' for Geometry). She subsequently took College Algebra and Trigonometry at the local community college; the text for both classes there was Sullivan's PreCalculus. This year she taking AP Statistics through PA Homeschoolers using The Practice of Statistics by Yates, Moore and Starnes. Phyllis in Canada
Saxon here for my math-phobic son. He hates it less than any other math curriculum we've tried in the past. :001_smile:
JFSinIL
Well, I voted CD since that is what my youngest is using NOW...but her older brother was quite successful with VT. May I vote for both???
Michelle in MO
If I were to do it over I'd do Chalkdust Algebra, because the instruction was so great, but I think I'd still hang onto the Lial's text because I like the thorough explanations in Lial's. Lisa L. in MI
Ds#1 - Jacobs for Alg 1; Foerster for Alg 2 Ds#2 - Saxon for both Alg 1 & 2 p.s. I didn't vote in the poll since we've used three different texts.
AngieW in Texas
Oldest dd used Jacobs Algebra. Middle dd started off with Jacobs Algebra and Kinetic Books Algebra combined, but switched to just KB halfway through, because it had better instruction and immediate feedback. I like both programs, but think Kinetic Books is better. It's definitely more thorough, and the immediate feedback and stepped help are also very good.
