IfIOnly
What do you wear that's super comfy and nonrestrictive. I pretty much wear jeans and occasionally sweats that look sloppy. I need more comfy clothes, bottoms especially, that look kind of cute too, so I can get out jeans more often. I loved yoga pants 20 pounds ago, but only the thicker, tighter, smoothing ones look okay on me now. I do like comfy fleece lined leggings that hide lumps and bumps amazingly, but it's hard to find ones that aren't a bit short on me even though I have shorter legs. So weird that. 🤷 Would appreciate any ideas! Edited September 22, 2020 by IfIOnly
Laura Corin
I am a recent convert to dungarees (overalls). MercyA
Pajama Jeans are very comfy and non-restrictive. They are stretchy, soft, and have a drawstring waist. I wear the skinny kind paired with a tunic top (like this) that covers my bum and they look like "real" jeans. I would not wear them out with a tunic top. 🙂 They don't have any smoothing properties, IYKWIM, and I wouldn't want the waistband visible. 1
wintermom
My former boss wore a dress everyday. She looked great, and she told me she wore the dresses because they were comfortable. She wore tights and long-sleeve dresses in the winter (we're in Canada). If you prefer to avoid the restrictive feeling around the waist, then a dress or the dungarees @Laura Corin linked, would be a good solution. 1
Emba
If you go the dress route, dresses made of a knit fabric - jersey or tee shirt material, are comfiest. And some look like giant sleep shirts and are too much like pajamas for me, but some have more elegant styling and can look really nice. 1
KatieJ
Lands End Starfish thanks to this board. I sew my own tops but they are similar to the Old Navy Jersey swing dresses. I occasionally buy a Old Navy swing dress and shorten it to a long tunic length. 5

Katy
I wear jersey dresses most of the time. Lately my favorites have come from Land's End or Talbots. The LL Bean ones and Amazon ones don't last. Try to find 100% cotton, or maybe 95% cotton, 5% lycra. Other blends don't last. I layer different cardigans on top if I need more coverage or it's slightly cool. I almost always wear with a pair of leather sandals that match my most-used purse. In spring and fall I layer leggings underneath, sometimes with knee high boots. Sometimes with loafers. In winter when it's really cold I wear sweaters over button downs on top (cotton or wool sweaters over cotton or flannel button downs) and jeans or corduroys on the bottom. Boots lined with sheepskin. I haven't tried any of it yet, but I did see that Land's End has a new line of "comfort" business wear. It LOOKS dressy, like blazers and such, but they say it's made from sweatshirt fleece. It looks perfect for people who want to look put together but feel like they're wearing gym clothes. Or perfect for someone with a lot of zoom meetings. 1
IfIOnly
I'm intrigued by the dresses and skirts suggestion. I don't know how long it's been since I've worn a dress. A decade or two? Skirts almost never anymore either, for some time now. Bit you're right, dresses and skirts can be super comfy. Would you link me to some of your dresses and skirts? I'd love to see them!
Katy
Here's a few from Land's End. I have bigger BOOKS and toddlers that pull on my clothes all the time, so I avoid shorter lengths and v-necks. I like midi lengths, which usually come to just below my knees rather than mid-calf, but I know I can bend over to get something without flashing anyone. I have this in a summer print. I'd prefer to avoid the modal, but it is comfortable: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-cotton-blend-sleeveless-midi-shirt-dress/id_345702?attributes=8063,43307,43324,44256 I have this one in the turquoise. Just yesterday I was wishing they'd come out with it in some fall colors: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-cotton-blend-sleeveless-midi-shirt-dress/id_348583?attributes=27083,43307,43324,44256 This one is shockingly gorgeous for such a comfortable dress: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-short-sleeve-knit-crochet-neck-maxi-dress/id_340198?attributes=29466,43307,43324,44256,44967 ETA: I probably have half a dozen dresses from them, but these are the only ones still in stock today. Katy
I don't see anything I own from Talbots still in stock except this: https://www.talbots.com/flounce-hem-fit-and-flare-dress---watercolor-paisley/P201036189.html?cgid=apparel-dresses&dwvar_P201036189_color=INDIA INK/ROSEBUD&dwvar_P201036189_sizeType=MS I only paid $30 for it. They usually sell out fast, but I wait for a good sale from them, and find their sheath dresses surprisingly comfortable and flattering. Their outlets carry different but similar styles (more polyester, but still flattering and durable), and if you catch the right sale you can get dresses for under $20 there. With most stores I find adding a belt or some sort of waist emphasis is more flattering, but Talbot's clothes are just cut flattering, so it's not needed for shape, even if you have a mom tummy. I also really love these elbow-sleeve tunics from JJill: https://www.jjill.com/product/pima-scop-neck-elbow-sleve-te-192521s-1?color=37L They're long enough to hide the fact that you're wearing yoga pants, if you choose a straight leg style rather than a legging. 1
rebcoola
I have quite few lulu Rao bought through buy sell trade groups.https://www.lularoe.com/women/riley-empire-waist-midi-dress I have this one in a couple colors.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q2H4CY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9tKAFb9D17V6Y
Katy
I really don't recommend Lularoe for dresses. It's cheap fabric and will start to pill in less than 5 delicate washes, but it isn't cheap prices. I've bought better quality clothes from Walmart and Target. It's too bad because some of the prints are really pretty, but to me they aren't worth it.

Corraleno
Another vote for Starfish! I have 5 or 6 pairs of the black Starfish jeans and that's practically all I wear. (I also have a couple of the blue denim ones, but I find they stretch out and look baggy pretty quickly, whereas the black ones hold their shape better.) The black "jeans" aren't denim, they're more like thick yoga pants, but styled like jeans with functional back pockets and a wide, comfy waistband that doesn't roll down or dig in. My daily "uniform" is black Starfish jeans with a tunic-length, 3/4 sleeve tee shirt (also Lands End). In cooler weather I add a tunic-length sweater or cardigan. I can dress it up with loafers, a silk scarf, and nice earrings, or throw on sneakers and a baseball cap for running errands. I'd give up pretty much anything else in my wardrobe before I'd give up my Starfish jeans. ❤️ ETA: All Starfish styles are 35% off through tomorrow (9/23) with code PARTNER Edited September 23, 2020 by Corraleno 1

Bambam
Very similar to Lands End Starfish pants are LL Beans Perfect Fit pants. I prefer these because the pockets are slightly larger - at least in the pairs I have (not the fleece lined pair - those pockets are pretty tiny). I only have the original, the straight leg, and the fleece lined (good for cold days, but not my favorite). I wish they had a pair like the Starfish fake cords ones though. (ETA - oh, wait they do! I just saw them looking at this link! Now to wait for a sale)https://www.llbean.com/llb/search/?freeText=perfect+fit+pants&init=1 Edited September 23, 2020 by Bambam 1
NewIma
I have just redone my wardrobe with skirts from Darn Good Yarns. They are these gorgeous wrap skirts made from recycled saris. They are fair trade, environmentally friendly, beautiful, reversable, and feel so so soft. I wear them with simple solid color t-shirts and always look nice (I think). I am totally in love. You don't know what you are going to get-they call them mystery skirts. Anyway, a little more hippy than the other suggestions, but I wanted to share my new comfy obsession.
